The new ship is like a galaxy quest parody!

^ So you're in complete agreement with the knucklehead who says the new Enterprise is something right out of MAD Magazine? One line, no explanation, no follow up... the Enterprise is something from MAD Magazine because it's something from MAD Magazine.

The basic outline of Hot Shots is a parody of Top Gun. Equating the new Enterprise to parody/spoof is akin to anyone crying about the sky falling because a starship registry number begins with zero.

I don't know how you expect anyone to read your posts.

I can't get past your avatar...

Agreed!

I don't know why, but I have a sudden urge to play Mario Bros.

Here's what I would do with the elements that are there.
The photoshopped versions of the ship I've seen today have something in common: all of them are attempts at making the ship look closer to things we've seen before. It's as if fans couldn't accept anything as Star Trek if it's not desperately middle of the road and safe.

Nope.
Nope you can't accept anything that's not middle of the road and safe? Nope you don't agree? Nope what?

We keep hearing this in thread after thread and I just don't get it, it's like the new "it's going to be dark like BSG!" (which turned out to be horse shit)

What about the new ship says parody ? If someone wants to take a stab at it, please be specific about the design details that would give somebody going to the Cinema to think it was a spoof.

Only fans said it might be like BSG. No one on the film said that.

I think it's a parody because the design elements are exaggerated, not refined. Just like Manga.

I think the classic 1950s car idea is exactly the right instinct, I just think it's too much.

I don't think it's a question of them not thinking this through, I think it's a case of them over thinking it. Less is more.

Here's what I would do with the elements that are there.

Here's what they actually did. As you can see, all I did, and all it really needs, is to be toned down some. The volume doesn't need to be up to 11.

I'm getting old...I can't tell the difference...

He moved the neck up on the secondary hull. He made the front of the Nacelles smaller and returned us to the weak, flimsy "Ruler" Style pylons so that it looks more like the TOS version of the 1701. Oh and he added an extra shuttle to the scene :)

^ Oooh, I see the difference now. And now that I do I don't like the poster's version... good try but they've already hit it. The new design kicksass, can't wait to see it in motion too. Only 26 hours!

The penis is more extended in the bottom photo.
