The New Mutants -- news, rumors, opix, etc;

Any useful master plan is adaptable. The MCU master plan changed when they struck a deal to let them use Spider-Man. It changed when they broke with Ike Perlmutter and were free of his insistence on an Inhumans movie and his resistance to female and minority leads. Before that, it changed when they decided not to do a Hulk sequel and replaced their tentative Runaways movie with The Avengers (good choice).

Plus, the upside to the Covid situation shutting down/slowing production means that they now have extra time to work on all the new stuff they got from reacquiring the X-Men characters from Fox.

On the other hand, there's also Deadpool and it seems unlikely we won't get anymore of those, so maybe The New Mutants can exist in the same corner of the universe as that franchise.
And yet the MCU apparently has no plans to use Deadpool within the next five years, so it's pretty hard to imagine a little struggling-to-get-released psuedo horror flick getting any sequel play.

I imagine Disney would have just thrown this on Hulu ages ago if they weren't contractually obligated to give it a theatrical release. (At least I think I remember reading something along those lines.)

Apparently there's some old pre-signed agreement which means that if New Mutants doesn't get a cinema release, HBO (?) gets it. (IIRC.)

Not even so much that (which doesn't help any) but I was thinking more of the fact that the film (and any potential continuation of it) wouldn't fit with the grand MCU master plan. On the other hand, there's also Deadpool and it seems unlikely we won't get anymore of those, so maybe The New Mutants can exist in the same corner of the universe as that franchise.
They've already indicated that they'll be getting into the multiverse end of things starting with Wandavision & Dr Strange 2, so the means of integrating anything pre-existing they acquired from Fox like Deadpool, New Mutants, or (fingers crossed) X-23 can just be dropped in that way.
Maybe Wanda wishes them into existence, maybe something weird and magical happens is Strange, or maybe Mojo shows up..

New Mutants is coming to Comic Con (@ Home?)

Yeah, it's from 2:00 - 2:45 pacific time on Thursday, and it will feature writer/director Josh Boone, and cast members Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga.

I'm not sure if they could even do VOD, the TV rights and all of that are at HBO.
On Amazon Video, most of the stuff that is on the HBO apps, can't be bought or rented until they're off HBO.

Oops, I was wrong, I just double checked, and you can buy them, you just can't rent them.

The Comic Con at Home panel just dropped:

The panel ends with the opening scene of the film and one last trailer.

I really do hope we get to watch this film on the big screen because it continues to look incredible.

Just watched it live, and it was pretty fun.
The biggest thing is that they showed the entire first scene, which also had some other new footage from other parts of the movie after it.
