The New Movies Yea or Nay

Re: The New Movies Yay or Nay

I hate that I don't like them haha. I want to but there's just something about them I don't like.

Maybe it's like mac and cheese. Most people like mac and cheese, because it's comfort food. When your mom makes it, it's the best in the world. When someone else's mom makes it, it looks like mac and cheese, it tastes like mac and cheese, and lots of people seem to like it, but it's not your mom's mac and cheese.

Now I want mac and cheese.

Re: The New Movies Yay or Nay

I'm mixed on the two movies.

They are not bad movies, but I don't consider them the style of Trek that I like the most.

Glad to help! :D
It's around this time of the morning I start thinking about food.

Welcome to the board, Starborn!

I like this, it is an honest appraisal. Not someone making up something to justify the reason they can't get into the films.

Re: The New Movies Yay or Nay

Not everyone has to like everything. Buy making up excuses as to why everyone else hates it got tiresome 6 years ago.

I don't like Elvis. Some people do. I've accepted this and don't go to Elvis message boards mocking his fatness. He probably couldn't even fit inside an Apple Store.

And now to tie everything together:

I like the mac and cheese analogy but with a twist. Basically I consider TOS trek golden kraft mac and cheese vs. the new movies which I liken to that kraft wheat mac and cheese people eat so they don't feel guilty after eating something with cheese in it. Most people enjoy the regular original delicious mac and cheese vs. the supposedly healthier cardboard tasting wheat variety(Yeah I tasted them they are really bland tasting).

Re: The New Movies Yay or Nay

Taste is subjective. That's the entire point of the analogy.

True, but all the same, I feel sorry for people who don't like mac n' cheese or bacon. (And, I don't trust them. :shifty:)

I can understand the disappointment of some Trek fans who eagerly looked forward to the new movies and walked out of the theater unsatisfied. Nobody likes a big letdown. At the same time, plenty of fans like me were reinvigorated by the new movies and liked them just fine.

SO, CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

Of course you do - it's just another restatement of your ongoing attempt to elevate your opinions above those of the people who disagree with you here.

It's not working for you.

Re: The New Movies Yay or Nay

Oddly enough, we had mac and cheese last night. We made it with three kinds of cheese, including smoked gouda. After seeing Squiggy's picture (above) I wish I had added some chopped bacon to it as well - it would have been to die for with the smoked gouda. That and a nice cold Pinot Grigio to wash it down.

That, of course, has nothing to do whatsoever with the movies, which I liked, by the way.

Wine with mac and cheese. My, aren't we the fru fru upper crust. :p

Sweet tea for me.

Sort of on topic, in the South, mac and cheese is considered a vegetable by quite a few folks. Its State Senate even declared it so in Tennessee (it had been classified as a casserole). This further proves it's all subjective.

He's right, Pubert.

Besides that, this little game you like playing is dishonest, it adds nothing of worth to the discussion, and it's borderline trolling. If I haven't already asked once or twice, you may consider this post a gilt-edged invitation to knock that shit off, beginning right now.

Re: The New Movies Yay or Nay

Nay! Nay, I Say Nay! Nay!

In the wise words of Alf Garnett: "I don't like 'em!" No, wait...

...

Anyway, it is all a matter of taste. I like my Romulans tattoo free and bowl-cut heavy. I like my science hypothetical but plausible. I like aliens with rubber foreheads and I like my battle scenes to consist of seventy-percent dialogue and thirty percent intermittent continuous phaser fire.

It's what I was raised on; it's what I know and it's what I love!
