If Google can be trusted "Andient" is a German word. "Andient is an inflected form of andienen"

It is a German word, yes, but not in common use anymore. In fact I have never encountered it before and had to look it up in a dictionary just now.

sigh. I'm sorry. I've really been trying. Honestly, I have. But these KINO's (Klingons In Name Only) are a deal-breaker for me. I hate them. Utterly. To the point of not bothering to try to watch the show. I hates 'em even more than I hates SID's "Blingons". sigh. Once again, I am everything that is "wrong" with Trek fandom. You kids go on without me...

Did you dramatically announce your departure in 1979, too?

The story context might help.

im not a fan of the new Klingons either, but an explanation seems likely with the "sarcophagus" ship that we have known about for months. I think it would be awesome if we saw a fleet of straight up no-ridge TOS klingons occupy the ships we didn't see and the redesign are for the sarcophogas ship.

Geez, guys.
I was just saying that I want to like Discovery, that I was going to make every effort to embrace it, but Klingons are a centrally iconic element of Trek and I, personally, can't accept that radical a change to an established and central part of the franchise. Yeah, 1979 was a bit rough, but I was younger then and there was less Trek to be had anywhere so I adjusted. Eventually. I'm not knocking anyone who likes or doesn't care overly much about the design. I certainly don't have "delusions of grandeur" (hmm if I could just get Tin-Plated and up that grandeur to "delusions of godhood" I'd be back in canon territory...)
The original poster asked for this specific opinion. Since I am used to getting bashed every time I express a dislike of where Trek has gone of late, I "framed" the comment as a slightly sardonic bit of self-deprecating confession.
Humor. It is a difficult concept..

Actually, I am really hoping that something like this turns out to be the case. That would have me back onboard in an instant and enthusiastic. I just don't think it seems very likely, give the comments that have been made about redesigning familiar races and such. But I will keep an eye on developments, just in case.

The DSC Klingons are closer to the TMP+ Klingons than the TMP+ Klingons are to TOS. I can easily see them as part of post TOS "evolution" of the Klingons, so I'm having a hard time parsing what's so "radical" about this iteration.

The comments don't mean there can't be an explanation for the redesign.

I will say this minor redesign I find acceptable, but if this doesn't have an explanation it would be a huge letdown for me. But The last three trek movies show that a letdown for me is irrelevant to its success.
