The New Frontier gone off the rails...

I've only missed the new batch of comics in the NF series and have loved the series. You never really know what to expect from the crew but the unexpected which keeps me coming back. Loved Missing In Action.

ANyone read the comics yet? If so how are they?

There are a few threads about the comics here and I posted reviews about the first three issues so far.

In short: I haven`t got the fourth issue yet but I think I can already say that I can recommend it. I like the story a lot. It builds on the latest NF books but I think anybody can join in without any problems.

The art is a mixed bag. I really don`t like this version of Calhoun but the other characters are spot on. Faces are hit and miss but I think the artist improved with the third comic. The rest is excellent. Thompson`s style is very different from Collins`. It takes some getting used to but I grew to like it in spite of some flaws.

Likewise, just picked up the new issue of the comic today and, if anything, it's just proven that PAD still has the gift when it comes to these characters - but, perhaps, he works better with the two paperback a year routine we used to get rather than one hardback every other year that we're getting now.

Me and Baerbel know each other from back in the day from a New Frontier fanfic group on, what is now, Yahoo Groups - and I remember how excited we all were when the Excalibur trilogy had just been out and we were waiting for Gateways.

Agreed! My issue #4 of "NF: Turnaround" was waiting for me in Sydney last night (plus the latest "TOS Year 4" and "Assignment: Earth" issues - and "Mirror Images" #1! - so much for IDW's lofty plan for "weekly" releases, there's no way I can ration myself for the next month!)

Again the face art is variable - often excellent - but finally Arex, M'Ress and Desma! I certainly was entertained by this comic on my way back home from the city. Roll on #5 and the reprint omnibus!

I'm liking Stone and Anvil, the murder plot and the past academy stuff, tho a little dissapointed to see people in the future given an inflated sense of their own self importance will continue to be dicks, tho I think that keeps with the red squad precident

I have been reunited with my NF collection - currently debating whether to embark upon a NF marathon or a DS9 Relaunch marathon or whether to wait until Destiny is out and read, along with Greater Than The Sum, before embarking on either.
