The New Artist's Thread (Warning: Large Image Size)

I am not very artistic but I thought I would give artist trading cards a go. Here is my very first very amateurish attempt at making a card. I hope to improve as I go along.

Think, I looked at your Picasa gallery. Some of the works uploaded on 11/11/10 are absolutely gorgeous! How were they created?

Aside from them, some of the black & white flowers -- and the brush and ink piece above -- are the most appealing to me. And those rows of b&w thingies (hieroglyphics?)... Fascinating!

thanks that is the latest you go thru the Picasa gallery there is more ..,

the ones on 11/11/10 were done by first grabbing a frame from a music to graphic interpretation program called milkdrop then layering several of the grabs and then working for the first time with my tablet that responds the pen pressure and things like that finding the right layering mixture and opacity and what is that called ... you know on the layer menu in gimp? where you choise to burn the layers together ahhh the blending 'mode' between the layers that is really important ,, but I have also been doing color curves since the early 90's so I have a handle on how to color curve some images and then mix them .. yeah your making me want to go back and do more... I just saw this bryce abstract work that made me melt and now I have to try similar things :)

the Glyphics I have note book after note book of ,, really enjoy that stuff it is a kind of divine work in form and style? is that the right word? anyway thanks so much for looking at the stuff..

you know you can down load anything that is public from Picasa and use it as a desk top and such?

I get the joke, mimic. :)

Anyway my Max Payne drawing (the guy with the gun) was done well under thirty minutes. I seem to be getting better, RJDiogenes.

And think's face is creepy...

^^ Some of those faces really are spooky.

I liked the Max Payne. The stark black and white and the spare use of lines are both very effective.

What a Roman soldiers looked like from the late 3rd century onwards, losing its "Hollywood" appearance from the late Republic and early Principate:
