Last time Picard was given a captain's chair with seatbelts he had the scene deleted and the chair sent over to another ship on a completely different show.

I think, we will be in for a surprise. I have the feeling, this particular Starfleet ship won't be the Enterprise (e or f), and it won't be some kind of Stargazer... but I truely hope, some time later they will do a new Enterprise-Show with a new Enterprise..., or another Starfleet ship of the early 25th ct.
Well, here's the possibilities:
1. It's a new Enterprise (highly unlikely.)
2. It's a new Stargazer (more possible based on its four nacelles, but the circular saucer isn't really de rigueur for the year 2400.)
3. It's an older ship from when Picard was younger (perhaps the Reliant, which he served on as an ensign.)
4. It's a new ship from the year 2400, not the Stargazer or the Enterprise, and has a round saucer for some reason.

3 or 4 seem the most plausible to me.
Rumours abound that a series set on board the USS Republic is in the works. Thus I combine this with the idea that Picard may be shooting it's 3rd and final season right now and come out with those sets being the Republic, and the new series in the works is to make use of those sets without Sir Patrick.
I love everything about this rumour, especially if it makes use of those characters as well.
I personally think that rumor is a load of crap, but we'll see. I'm not sure why "Republic" would be any kind of catchy name for a hero ship, but that's me.
I agree the rumor is probably bogus but Republic is an awesome name for a ship. Better than Enterprise.
I have no feelings one way or the other about the name Republic at the moment, but give me a few seasons of a USS Republic kicking ass and saving the day and I'm sure my opinion will change.
Getting back to the ship in season 3 of Picard, my hunch is that it's under the command of a TNG legacy character. And just as a side note...Michael Dorn appears to have grown back his Worf goatee https://twitter.com/KitSwink/status/1490165850954866690/photo/1
