Still so many good ones. "If Memory Serves" is one of the most exceptional Discovery episodes for me. Did they hit that one out of the park. My only complaints are the tiniest nitpicks (gendering the Talosians, when one of the most cutting edge things about them originally was how they simply didn't relate to concepts of male/female)

As noted elsewhere, I am a real sucker for style, and "The Big Goodbye" had it out the wazoo. Crafted as a loving homage to classic pulp detective stories, and airing well before the "holodeck peril" trope was played out, this episode was light and clever, with just enough perceived peril to give it an edge. Those clothes -- be still my heart! And I got a giggle out of the fact that Crusher did not immediately get the hang of high heels. Me neither, Doc, me neither.

Two hard favorites on that list, but I'll choose chronologically by air date (leaving salvation of "Context is for Kings" to someone else).

Amusingly, my pick shares with that title a word: "Conscience of the King." When written well, any episode or film featuring a Hitler analogue goes straight to what Faulkner called "the human heart in conflict with itself." (best literary example to my knowledge being George Steiner's short novel of 1981, The Portage to San Cristobel of A.H., in which an Israeli search team finds the elderly Hitler, who at the end presents his defense! (and it's a persuasive one...)

These lines, their delivery, chill me even in recollection. Close your eyes and recall them spoken:

KARIDIAN: Blood thins. The body fails. One is finally grateful for a failing memory. I no longer treasure life, not even my own. I am tired! And the past is a blank.

"Counterpoint" was a well-written and exciting episode filled with plots and counterplots, and Janeway pulling one final, clever twist for the win. I loathed the suggestion that she was actually attracted to Kasshyk, though -- can't see her getting hot and bothered for a Nazi-esque bully boy, no matter how charismatic.

Well scripted and very well acted by William Sadler, who always delivers on any of his performances. I may be in the minority, but I actually liked Section 31.

(I hated how they were used in DISCOVERY, though. If they kept them more secretive, it probably would have been fine. Instead, they have their own fleet of ships and many officers know and worked wirh them? UGH!)
