Game The Most Disliked Trek Couple

Odo's relationship with the Female Shapeshifter was an intriguing one. It's a shame they never followed up on his betrayal of Kira by forgetting to help Rom. His being around his people meant so much to him I can at least see why he did it.

Bashir/Ezri
Kira/Shakaar
Ishka/Zek
Chakotay/Seska
Kelvin Uhura/Spock
Lorca/Cornwell
Seven/Raffi
Narissa/Narek
Soji/Narek
Shaxs/T'Ana
Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband

Seven and Raffi. A same sex relationship handled in a sensitive, adult way is something that Star trek should have been doing 30 years ago.

Bashir/Ezri
Kira/Shakaar
Ishka/Zek
Chakotay/Seska
Kelvin Uhura/Spock
Lorca/Cornwell
Narissa/Narek
Soji/Narek
Shaxs/T'Ana
Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband

The rest is bottom of the barrel stuff! That might be it for me in this game.

I'll go with Chakotay/Seska, because they had good chemistry, and Seska was a great character. The way they just flippantly killed her off, and then also changed the father of her baby was pathetically short-sighted.

Bashir/Ezri
Kira/Shakaar
Kelvin Uhura/Spock
Lorca/Cornwell
Narissa/Narek
Soji/Narek
Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband

I'm going to eliminate Soji and Narek. Which may surprise some. I don't think they had a good relationship, but I do think the whole thing was interestingly written and well performed. Harry Treadaway gives enough nuance to Narek so as not to make him 'just' bad.

Bashir/Ezri
Kira/Shakaar
Kelvin Uhura/Spock
Lorca/Cornwell
Narissa/Narek
Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband

Bashir/Ezri
It was tacked on at the end of DS9, but I've liked what I've read of it in the books (and I'm far enough behind on those that I'm not at the definite, point of no return timeline break at 2380/81).

Kira/Shakaar
Kelvin Uhura/Spock
Lorca/Cornwell
Narissa/Narek
Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband

Kira/Shakaar
I'll save this one just because I think Shakaar gets a bad rap. Yes he's stoic and wooden, but he's supposed to be. He's a serene monk.

Lorca/Cornwell
Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband

Shakaar's best episode was his first one, so I always really enjoyed that one. Ultimately, he became the person who was getting the girl instead of Odo, which provided great material at times, if nothing of substance for Shaakaar himself.

Ninja'd!

In that case. I'll make Carol and the Admiral Husband the most disliked. Freeman is a great character, but the relationship can barely be judged as it's only referred to a few times.

At least with Lorca/Cromwell, we saw something onscreen, and they had great chemistry.

Carol Freeman/Admiral Husband wins!

Kira/Shakaar wasn't bad, it was just a "whatever" ship. Like Bashir/Ezri and a lot of the other pairings on this list.

Funny how the Voyager character who had more romances than any other... slipped by completely unmentioned. Hard to say if Harry was unluckier in his career or his love life.

@Oddish

I think you need to seek help considering the amount of time you spend thinking about Harry Kim's lost potential. :D

Sadly more thought than anyone involved with the show ever gave him. :(

I think I'm immune to psychoanalysis. But your concern is noted. I will try (again) to limit discussion of Trek characters who get shafted promotion-wise to the relevant topic.

Harry's love life will be better represented on the "Romance Of The Week" list, when we get there. :bolian:

I love Lower Decks so much I hate seeing them on the winners board at all, but I must admit I struggled with how to even list them here, since the husband is unnamed. So from that angle, definitely an appropriate winner! (Also, why have we not had one beat yet addressing Mariner's feelings for her dad? I'm so curious!)

Next up is -- I guess I better decide! Not quite time for "The Most Disliked Holiday Episode", holding that for a little closer to First Contact Day...

Anyway, I'll post the wrap-up post later tonight, and TBD next game will be up tomorrow.

To say the least. Her stealing his DNA was sufficiently creepy, but thankfully not a typical plot point - which ups the ante for the "shipping" subgenre considerably.

(And shh, don't ask for actual details as to how she got it, though by the 24th century it's not like surreptitiously removing the freshly used condom out of the recycle bin trash to get at said DNA without Fred knowing... and if she really got clever with a transporter to get at those little tadpoles, that's as creative as it is creepy as it is narratively easy and lame. What next, the transporters can clean windows as well as raise the young by synthesizing nourishment in the pattern buffer instead of merely refreshing the pattern like how power is continually sent to an SSD to keep its memory cells' electrons from attenuating and zeroing out... yay for the effects of entropy, woohoo! Granted, the power refresh can be held off for months if not a year (if not somewhat longer if you're that adventurous, I'm sure there's a graph or pareto chart or something somewhere) before sufficient corruption occurs... )

Data/Yar is next for me. It was only for one episode, but the legacy it left for Data throughout the show's run was so large. Plus the intoxicated Yar asking if Data was fully-functional always makes me smile.

Even I have to admit that, what started out as a huge blunder and so early in the show's run, was somehow managed to be turned into something... special, and building up a continuity that gave it dignity. That's legitimately impressive.

Let's stay on the love theme! Next up: "The Most Disliked Romance-Of-The-Week Episode" It'll be up sometime today/tonight. Thanks once again for playing everybody, hope to see you all on the next one!
