So my next one will be "HEROES AND DEMONS". A really fun episode which makes the rare use of vikings in STAR TREK. Add to that an unusual new lifeform, and wonderful performances by Robert Picardo, and you get a season 1 gem.

The B-plot with the virus going around the ship was pretty dang great, especially for season one standards. It's a shame it's mated* to a perfectly hideous A-plot that's as by-the-numbers cliched as anything could possibly get. Be glad Riker didn't have what Harry Kim had...

So much mediocrity on what's left, but I'm going to go with Voyager's Darkling. Kes's romantic interest was totally meh...typical "captain blandsome" they get in Trek for female characters. But special notice has to be given for the scene where Kes beams back up to Voyager, and is breathing heavy and covered with sweat. I don't think Trek has ever - ever - so convincingly done "I've just been f*cked" as Lien does in that episode. Honestly wonder to this day if she just jilled off prior to the shoot or something. Also, Picardo is wonderfully creepy as the "evil Twin" of The Doctor, even if he's toned down from what they originally intended.

Again it had some good ideas and I'm gonna give them some credit for portraying a character in wheelchair.
Plus those low-gravity scenes with Melora and Bashir were nice.
And at least it had a reasonably good reason as to why the RoTw didn't continue.

Eliminating VOY, Season 7: "Homestead" . A good sendoff for the Neelix character, even if it felt as a bit of an anticlimax that he wouldn't be seeing Earth after all. It was great to see how he had earned his place in the hearts of his crewmembers at the end, even Tuvok giving Neelix (a form of) praise. Finally.

Except, yeah, the reason why it's actually on this list, the romance between Neelix and Dexia felt more like a plot device.

In the spirit of Neelix praise, I want to save "Prophecy", because that fling between Neelix and the Klingon woman is FUN. I like the rest of the episode, too. It's silliness, but it was a point where I was happy to just indulge silliness with the Klingons.

I am eating "THE APPLE".

I've always liked this episode. Not even sure why. There's something about it that is just fun. This episode definitely took the trope of 'redshirts' to the extreme... in fact, I don't think any other episode had as many redshirts that died who were actually named in the same episode.

Exploding rocks? Killer lightning? Dart plants? A club that looks like a tuning fork? Sign me up for that away team!

I'll save Ship in a Bottle next.

I love the whole holodeck ruse here, with Picard, Data and Barclay having never actually left it. I do think the relationship between Moriarty and the Countess was touching. I did like their ending - whilst being in their own ship in a bottle, there will be able to experience their own life together, which was sweet. Even if not what Moriarty demanded originally.

I loved both of the Moriarty episodes.

I think "Gravity" is one of those charming little gems of an episode, I feel like it's underappreciated. This is the episode that made me finally appreciate Tuvok. The time-moving-at-different-rates gimmick is just satisfying sci-fi. Lori Petty is great in the part, and her connection with Tuvok is quite affecting.

Saving "The Emissary".

Basically for one reason... K'Ehleyr. Wonderful character, portrayed brilliantly by Suzie Plakson, she was a force of nature. All scenes with her and Worf were just electric. A real shame her character is killed in the next appearance, but she was extremely memorable.

And the main plot was pretty damn good, too. Worf and K'Ehleyr as captain and XO always made me smile. One of the best Worf episodes on TNG.

I think Unity is a pretty good first Borg episode for VOY. It looked at the collective in a different way, with these former Borg victims having their own civilization.

I'll save "Emissary." A great pilot with a lot of wonderful world building, and the heady sci-fi-ness of the back half is great, and also serves as another great romantic storytelling device, with Sisko and Jennifer's relationship unfolding as the Prophets experience all these things for the first time. I like all the messaging on the timeless nature of grief, as well. Powerful stuff.

My first post, after being a lurky turkey for many years! These games are fun. I have to save DS9’s “Emissary”. I think it’s maybe a bit of a stretch to consider it a ‘romance of the week’, so its inclusion is a bit surprising, but I think it’s by far the strongest episode on this otherwise fairly grim list and Trek’s greatest pilot post-TOS. To me, it’s more a tale of grief and letting go of the past, and it’s remarkably poignant and well done. Avery Brooks’s performance in the climatic wormhole scenes still makes me sob. “No, it’s not linear...”

It's such a fun episode, and although I wasn't crazy about Dax and Work at first, it's a fun episode for Quark with some genuine laughs. And i love Mary Kay Adams as Grilka.

I think I'm going to have to go with eliminating Rules of Acquisition next. The episode had some major flaws in the conception of Pel as a character, insofar as she's a Ferengi woman trying to prove she's just as good as any man by going undercover as a drag king - but she can't get her own infatuation with Quark under control. That said, this episode gets major props in my book because Jadzia recognizes Pel is falling for Quark, thinks Pel is a man, and sees absolutely nothing wrong with it. One could argue it's a throwaway line sure, but it's about as explicit as Trek got in saying same-sex relationships were fine until the Kurtzman era. Also, the chutzpah of introducing the Dominion as a name-drop in a friggin Ferengi comedy episode never ceases to amaze me.

I quite like The Icarus Factor. It's a nice little Riker show, with him and his father trying to build a better understanding.

Pulaski's relationship with Kyle showed her being a little warmer than we used to with her, and I say that as a fan of her character.

There are probably some better made, higher concept, more thoughtful episodes, but for the sheer joy and entertainment of its odd couple pairing, I'm going to save ENT: "Precious Cargo". Trip's utter exasperation, Kaitaama's matter-of-fact sense of entitlement, and their confinement in that ridiculously tiny escape pod are a great combination. Plus, elsewhere in the episode, T'Pol puts on a sublime show as 'Judge, Jury and Executioner'!
Oh, and Trip in his underwear (again!) is not to be sniffed at
