So, next up in these themed elimination games: Q episodes!

THE RULES
. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. Below is a list of Q episodes from TNG, DS9, and VOY. Eliminate your FAVORITE or the one you deem the 'BEST.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed.

Finally, please leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.

The Least Disliked 2019 winner of this game was TNG: "All Good Things..."

DS9 Season 1: “Q-Less”
VOY Season 2: “Death Wish”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

Q Who, fantastic episode, the borg are truly creepy and unstoppable in this episode, it was a great introduction. I still remember watching it for the first time decades ago and how worried it made me feel for the crew should the borg ever return.

VOY Season 2: “Death Wish”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”

I want Hide and Q to win so I’ll vote Tapestry. Very enjoyable episode that gives some good character moments for Picard.

VOY Season 2: “Death Wish”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

Deja Q. Maybe one of the few TNG episodes were the comedy works. Q and Data made a great pair and it's shame we never saw them really doing anything together again. Even Roddenberry who usually seemed to only have bad idea's at this point I know told the writer to make Q really have his powers gone and for it to not be a trick was a great way to do it. Having a God learn how to be human is a great concept. My favorite scene is when Q tells Data, who can't talk because he is being repaired, that he was a failure and he Data made a better human than him.

Eliminating TNG Season 7: “All Good Things…”

Awesome episode and series finale, in which we see Q one last time in his role as slightly-hard-to-read judge of humanity. I didn't care that much for how Q was used in DS9 or VOY (though I think Death Wish is still great).

TNG Season 1: “Encounter At Farpoint”
TNG Season 1: “Hide And Q”
TNG Season 4: “QPid”
TNG Season 6: “True Q”
TNG Season 6: “Tapestry”
DS9 Season 1: “Q-Less”
VOY Season 2: “Death Wish”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

Eliminating Encounter at Farpoint. For it's flaws, an enjoyable adventure and a good introduction to Q, and to TNG in general.

TNG Season 1: “Hide And Q”
TNG Season 4: “QPid”
TNG Season 6: “True Q”
DS9 Season 1: “Q-Less”
VOY Season 2: “Death Wish”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

Taking out "DEATH WISH". We got a good look inside the Continuum, and a great moral dilemma about suicide. One of the best uses of Q in the franchise.

TNG Season 1: “Hide And Q”
TNG Season 4: “QPid”
TNG Season 6: “True Q”
DS9 Season 1: “Q-Less”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

True Q is clearly the best of this lot, and gives us a nice, logical story removed from the usual confines of Q's trial or continuous bothering of Picard, as he only winds up on the Enterprise coincidentally. The tragedy of Amanda Rogers, a human-raised Q is fascinating and fulfills the concept behind Hide and Q in a more succinct way.

TNG Season 1: “Hide And Q”
TNG Season 4: “QPid”
DS9 Season 1: “Q-Less”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

This is getting hard ... I'll save QPid. I like Vash and the episode is silly fun.

TNG Season 1: “Hide And Q”
DS9 Season 1: “Q-Less”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

I like none of these, but will save "Q-Less", because I can remember young me being excited for this crossover and the return of Vash when I heard about it. Also, the design on many of the alien bidders at the auction is excellent.

TNG Season 1: “Hide And Q”
VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

The Voyager eps were continuing the story of De Lancie's Q, whereas Hide and Q, as rough as it is, was actively trying to be about something more: a power corrupts story. Q and the Grey might be the best plotted of these three, and deals with the consequences of Death Wish, but I feel it doesn't have a moral dilemma at play, which should define a Q story.

So, it's a bit of a toss-up between Hide and Q and The Q and the Grey. I think I'll save Hide and Q, which really only suffers from TNG first season problems, but otherwise has a solid reasoning. Q and the Grey doesn't have an excuse.

VOY Season 3: “The Q And The Grey”
VOY Season 7: “Q2”

I prefer to save (read : eliminate ) "the Q and the grey".

While 'the Q and the Grey' also is a silly episode (omniscient Q's being shown to act as adolescents with quarrels, basically), at least the Q and the Grey doesn't feel as tired and insipid as Q2 does. That episode is predictable from very the get-go with no flash of inspiration whatsoever and to me really felt like a "filler" about inadequate parenting. Which is a long, sad way down from how the Q concept was introduced to us in TNG (as a capricious god-like being that seems irresponsible and yet also judges humanity) and how energetic Q's role was back then.

Wow, we zipped thru that one! And settled at my ideal winner, "Q2" is an episode I only recently saw for the first time, and what an embarrassing mess. De Lancie's son is not capable of carrying this, and the script is trash.

I really wish VOY had copied the wise instincts of DS9 in going to the Q well only ONCE, and then letting it rest.

Going up now: "The Most Disliked Hallucination/Illusion Episode." Hope to see you all there!

MOST DISLIKED WINNERS, 2020
SEASON PREMIERE: TNG, Season 7: "Descent, Part II"
HOLODECK: VOY, Season 6: "Fair Haven"
TIME TRAVEL/ANOMALY/LOOP: VOY, Season 6: “Fury”
Q: VOY, Season 7: "Q2"
VISIT TO EARTH'S "PRESENT": ENT, Season 2: "Shockwave, Part II"
VISIT TO EARTH'S PAST: ENT, Season 4: "Storm Front, Part I"

Aww man! I missed out! But, yeah, Q2 was the worst of the lot... VOY's take on Q, even "Death Wish", was spotty at best. VOY's use of Q is the literal definition of "Flanderization", where a character (or concept) that once started out with some depth becomes a shallow and superficial imitation of itself.

Woah. Very difficult to argue with that list. Great minds think alike, huh?

I would have gunned for Q2 as well. Hide & Q, Q-Less and QPid are awful. The rest are fairly watchable with a couple of classics - hard to top Q-Who. Death Wish was a fascinating concept that - while a bit iffy at times in execution - mostly worked.

QPid had an interesting theme but wasn't really well executed. Hide & Q had a far better theme, let down by season one goofiness - right down to Conn telling Picard it's like nothing happened and they're still traveling, except we see the ship's lights and engines turn on and the ship in stationary position. To say nothing of "penalty box".
