[Seven of Five]

I can't decide, there are so many good episodes and films.

I'll save The Search for Spock. A wonderful film for the visuals alone, with Genesis changing so much throughout, right until it falls apart completely. There is also so much going wrong for Kirk in his quest to find and restore Spock.

The Enterprise escaping the Spacedock is one of my favourite scenes in the film series as well.

Well, let's just take the top one off the list: A Private Little War. This is a classic example of Cold War politics and the dangers of playing that game, a lesson that we, as the human race, never seem to fully appreciate.

It was hard to decide between that and Day Of The Dove. I'm sure someone else will pick that one off soon enough.

Allow me! I've ALMOST saved that one on every turn. I think it's actually the only Klingon TOS episode that I properly enjoy, none of the others do it for me, but this one uniquely satisfies, for some reason. Kang, maybe? First female Klingon, even though her primary purpose seems to be a way to introduce a rape threat to the story? Just move lively than the earlier Klingon eps? Who can say! I just like it the most somehow.

[Farscape One]

Saving "FACES". This was a great early showcase of Roxann Dawson's acting chops. Great story, and a great Vidiian episode. The creepy doctor... they really did horror right with these guys. And bonus... the first real bonding of Paris and Torres. Very wise move, starting them off at odds, then forming a friendship, then dating for years until marriage happens and a baby in the finale. That relationship really felt earned.

I would no simply because it focuses on Torres wanting her child to NOT be Klingon. It has her childhood experiences of her dad leaving because she and Miral are Klingons, but I don't think the episode's Klingonness, if that can be a word, is strong enough.

Lineage trods the same thematic ground as Firstborn, asking how one accepts and approaches one's, well, lineage and that of one's child. The heart of the episode is whether or not B'Elanna can accept what her Klingonness means to her being and what she will pass to her daughter.

I'll save TOS Season 3: "Elaan Of Troyius". Another example of underhanded Klingon shenanigans to scheme around the rules of the Organian Peace Treaty. The Klingon Captain was quite boring, but we got great France Nuyen shots and good Scotty moments. Leaves:

DS9 Season 5: “Trials And Tribble-ations”​

Is saved.

The script deftly works around an established episode, and manages to keep both 24th century crew and 23rd century from the former causing a paradox in saving the latter. Dax whippin' a tribble upon Kirk's head is good for a guffaw, and topping it off they cleverly reused footage to let it appear as if Sisko talked with Kirk. The grading and treatment to make new filmed footage blend in seamlessly was astounding. It is a loving tribute, and is a solid story in its own right. Having said that, the orb of time also transports them considerably through space. But like the newbie red shirt endangering the Capellan issue in "Friday's Child", a plot boo-boo needed to set up a plot is forgivable if there's something great in what's to come and in both episodes, there's much to Klingon to.

Three cheers and a prune-juice toast to "The House of Quark," where our favorite Ferengi bar owner wielded his wits -- and, we can't deny it, his courage -- like a bat'leth to stop a dishonorable plot. Watching Quark successfully bring his own strengths into play, in a culture that specifically disrespects those strengths, was, in its own way, both delightful and awesome. Plus, just the image of all those Klingon councilors scratching their heads at the exotic concepts of "devaluation" and "gross adjusted assets" makes me smile.

It's funny, when we played this list last year, "Lineage" never came up -- it didn't crossed my mind as something that belonged here, and no one else mentioned it either. Right before I posted this current thread, I suddenly remembered the already-saved "Faces" and thought that should be added, and then I was like "'Lineage' too? I don't THINK so?" Usually I rewatch the ep in question when I'm unsure, but I wanted to get this up and I figured no one else would bring it up, so let's just get the game going. Guess not!

But I'm persuaded by these arguments! And we're still early in the game for a list this long, so adding "Lineage" now.

Meanwhile, I will save "The Emissary." Another excellent early-Klingon ep for TNG. K'Ehleyr is obviously an iconic and very memorable character, from only two appearances. I love the threat being a sleeper ship, and the resolution scene with Worf & K'Ehleyr commanding the Enterprise bridge. It's also one of those where I adore the leisurely pace... the plot barely begins till the start of act two! Which allows time for such wonderful digressions as poker with Pulaski. I love this one.

Lineage is just fresh in my mind having finished me rewatch last week. I love it, but the episode is more about B'Elanna's struggle with accepting her heritage, which seemed to stem from her father leaving her mother.

It's more of a B'Elanna story than a Klingon one.

I will save "LINEAGE".

My reasoning is that I don't think it belongs on this list. It was primarily a Torres story, and other than her and the hologram of her unborn child, no other Klingons appear.

"Firstborn" was cited as a reason to add "LINEAGE", and while the core of that episode was accepting heritage, it had other Klingons in it. A lot of them... Duras sisters, future Alexander, a full colony of Klingons. It's hard to call "LINEAGE" a Klingon episode when the only one that appears is one of the lead characters, despite it being primarily about her.

Having said all that, it was a great character story and acting piece for Dawson. Paris and The Doctor had a lot of great stuff here, too. Great episode overall.

I am feeling favorably disposed towards "Prophecy" right now. At this point, they'd run into so many AQ people/things/ships in the DQ that I could no longer be annoyed by it. Neelix's fling with the Klingon woman is fun -- better developed than his relationship with Kes almost, in mere minutes of screentime! And I like the central tension of B'Elanna having to embrace this messiah role to make the scheme-of-the-week work.

An example... not every Worf story has other Klingons around him, such as "Parallels", "HIPPOCRATIC OATH", "BAR ASSOCIATION", or "CHANGE OF HEART". And we don't include those on this list.

The same should apply to Torres.

I'll be doing the same for Spock, Tuvok, and T'Pol episodes because they are regulars.

I'll save The Mind's Eye. This is the first time we see Geordi's VISOR being used to control him. I haven't got too much time to go into my reasons, but I clearly loved the scenes with the unseeable Sela, who seemed more menacing before we knew how that would turn out.
