The Most Disliked Episode of VOY, 2023 Edition - Season 7...

It's hard to save some of these... we're in the dregs now. I'll go for "FLESH AND BLOOD".

Good to see the Hirogen one last time, and it was a good concept. Picardo, as always, is fantastic.

"UNIMATRIX ZERO PART II"
"DRIVE"
"REPRESSION"
"NIGHTINGALE"
"WORKFORCE, PART II"
"FRIENDSHIP ONE"
"NATURAL LAW"

Lol, that wasn't even intentional on my side :)

Those are the best puns!

I guess I have some fun with the Borg in even the worst Borg episodes.

In terms of awful Borg outings, I think "Unimatrix Zero"''s only competition is "Descent" (huh, both season 6 finales/season 7 premieres). It's dreadful. But it does have Borg in it! So that's... something.

"DRIVE"
"REPRESSION"
"NIGHTINGALE"
"WORKFORCE, PART II"
"FRIENDSHIP ONE"
"NATURAL LAW"

"Repression" made no damn sense, for any number of reasons. (Why would Teero think the late Maquis would benefit from allies in the Delta Quadrant? And long after the war was over? And wasn't it lucky he had latched on to the one crew that was alive and uncaptured?) But it did have Keith Szarbakja, acting with enough intensity to elevate his one-note role. It also had a 3-D movie theater, which was kinda neat.. Bringing back Chell and Tabor was a nice touch of continuity. And the acting in general wasn't bad.
So, what the hell. Here's to ya, Keith.

"DRIVE"
"NIGHTINGALE"
"WORKFORCE, PART II"
"FRIENDSHIP ONE"
"NATURAL LAW"

I thought I saved Flesh and Blood earlier but I didn't. Oh well.

Human Error could have been great if they had actually Seven to move out of her quarters and go on dates, even if it is with Chakotay. :D Just let her grow, it was the last season!

I'll go with Workforce Part II because it was interesting making the crew obedient workers against their will. I also like that B'Elanna and Tom were still drawn to each other despite losing their memory.

Also interesting was the conflict between the ECH and Harry over who should be in command because made Harry seem slightly more interesting. Well briefly at least. ;)

My last save for this season... tricky, because these are all duds in one way or another.

Saving "DRIVE"... it actually tied the knot for Tom and B'Elanna. And while it would have been nice to see the wedding, we did see their duplicates' wedding in "COURSE: OBLIVION", so I just imagine that being what happened here, too.

"NIGHTINGALE"
"FRIENDSHIP ONE"
"NATURAL LAW"

"Drive" was the last one I was considering saving. Of the remaining three, I don't remember "Natural Law" (my VOY rewatches usually peter out before S7) and I cannot save either of the other two on principle. So I'll see you in the final.

I'll save "Nightingale", because these other two are atrocities.

I have not one nice thing to say about "Nightingale." It is terrible in every respect. However, I only recently saw it for the first time. There were a bunch of Voyagers I missed in the last three seasons, so I kind of appreciated the experience of getting to come to them fresh decades later. Even though, in the case of "Nightingale", the episode possesses not a single worthwhile characteristic.

But the other two are just aggressively worse. "Friendship One" infuriates me over the decision to kill Carey and how it was done. So cheap and manipulative and mean.

I actually made a point of watching that episode because they'd teased the return of Carey! "He was interesting in season one, I'm curious where that story lands", I thought to myself.

And then it was like four dumb lines, a pointless death, and Janeway staring forlornly at a ship in a bottle! Such hack writing. "He only had one nacelle to go." Just embarrassing.

"Natural Law" is dull as dirt, a complete nothing shrug of an episode that shows no one could be bothered to give a fuck this close to the finale. Made even worse by casually throwing in an interesting premise finally in the last act! All those boring empty scenes that filled the hour, to then suddenly at the finish line: "Oh, and here's a fascinating moral dilemma -- which we will now resolve in the very moment it's introduced! The End!"

"FRIENDSHIP ONE"
"NATURAL LAW"

So, "Nightingale", the last Harry episode, escapes the finals by the skin of its teeth (3rd), and the person saving it admits that it was trash. And of the other six:
Emanations - 1st
Non Sequitur - 1st
Favorite Son - 1st
Revulsion - 4th
The Disease - 2nd

While "Ashes to Ashes" had a middling performance in S6 and "Timeless" did well in S5, that means that 75% of Harry's eight episodes (I think only Neelix had fewer) were bottom of the barrel, and fully half of them will be candidates for the absolute worst.

So in a sense, not only did Harry Kim suffer, but the suffering got spread around.

I hate "Friendship One" beyond reason. Not only did it kill off Carey, but it also featured B'Elanna being willing to casually endanger her baby because she was bored (and none of her wimpy superiors could tell her "no"; Tom had to talk her down. Chain of command, what's that?), and Janeway dropping the most mind-boggling line ever to be said by a Starfleet officer. Not to mention how depressing the whole thing was.

Saving "Natural Law."

"FRIENDSHIP ONE" loses the round.

Hated F1 and Nightingale. If Nightingale had to escape the final, glad the other abomination didn't.

And "FRIENDSHIP ONE" wins season 7.

I am not a fan of this one, either, for pretty much the same reasons as stated above.

I will start the Finals of VOYAGER within the next few hours. Hope to see everyone there.

Thank you all for playing.

When a mediocrity like "Endgame" gets eliminated early, and an episode that assassinated two characters and basically told the audience to take a long walk off a short pier doesn't even make the finals... you know the season's a trainwreck.
