I'll save "Nightingale", because these other two are atrocities.
I have not one nice thing to say about "Nightingale." It is terrible in every respect. However, I only recently saw it for the first time. There were a bunch of Voyagers I missed in the last three seasons, so I kind of appreciated the experience of getting to come to them fresh decades later. Even though, in the case of "Nightingale", the episode possesses not a single worthwhile characteristic.
But the other two are just aggressively worse. "Friendship One" infuriates me over the decision to kill Carey and how it was done. So cheap and manipulative and mean.
I actually made a point of watching that episode because they'd teased the return of Carey! "He was interesting in season one, I'm curious where that story lands", I thought to myself.
And then it was like four dumb lines, a pointless death, and Janeway staring forlornly at a ship in a bottle! Such hack writing. "He only had one nacelle to go." Just embarrassing.
"Natural Law" is dull as dirt, a complete nothing shrug of an episode that shows no one could be bothered to give a fuck this close to the finale. Made even worse by casually throwing in an interesting premise finally in the last act! All those boring empty scenes that filled the hour, to then suddenly at the finish line: "Oh, and here's a fascinating moral dilemma -- which we will now resolve in the very moment it's introduced! The End!"
"FRIENDSHIP ONE"
"NATURAL LAW"
