The Most Disliked Episode of TNG - Season 4...

Farscape One

Admiral

This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I will start by saving "Data's Day". I love the 'day in the life' structure, particularly with Data as the perspective. And a great nod to BALANCE OF TERROR, a favorite of mine from The Original Series. Coincidence that both involved Romulans?

"Devil's Due" is the season 4 ep that's popping up most frequently in rewatches for me these days, so I'll save that first. Ardra is a great villain, I love all her scenes with Picard. And any sequence where she's demonstrating her "powers" is great fun.

Season 4 is a consistent season and I enjoy rewatching most of the episodes but few episodes scream out for me to save them. I always liked The Mind's Eye. It was the edgiest and best directed episode of season 4. The intercuts with Geordi's POV was cool.

There are some greats on this list but I think I'm gonna save "The Nth Degree." A fun payoff to previous Barclay and some great character moments and even though it's a little ham fisted and never returns I like the "turning of the tables" on the crew: they are the subject of exploration instead of being the explorers.

I love First Contact. It's good how the episode is done from the alien race's perspective.

Future Imperfect was a nice puzzle for Riker to solve. I liked his meltdown where he tells Picard to shut up.

"Reunion" is a winner, possibly TNG's best Klingon episode.

The Drumhead, which is a powerful story about the damage that witch hunts can cause, and still a very relevant one today.

Galaxy's Child has the important message that reality and fantasy are two different things. And the space baby was cute. The two stories converge nicely.

"Legacy" I guess I'm just big on aftermath-of-Tasha's-death stories lately, I was praising that element of "The Most Toys" when saving it...

The Wounded is an excellent introduction to the Cardassians, whilst its also a good use of O'Brien.

Clues was clever. It was Michael Piller's favorite episode of the season.

Best of Both Worlds II is a generally very worthy follow-up to the first half, even if it does have its flaws.

How can "Family" still be on this list?!? I mean, seriously. It's one of the rare episodes to show characters dealing with the consequences of a devastating personal trauma, it features some amazing acting by Stewart, it introduces the then-adorable David Tristram Birkin, and it's the great Theodore Bikel's only appearance on Trek. I am addressing this blatant injustice here and now.

"Qpid" is saved. A fun episode, and Worf was hilarious when he destroyed Geordi's mandolin... and his line, "Sir, I protest! I am NOT a Merry Man!"

I love any time Troi gets to be nasty ("Man Of The People", "Power Play"), so obviously I adore "The Loss"!

Half a Life, which is a arguably Lwaxana’s best episode across the franchise.

Saving "Final Mission." The B-plot was unbelievably dumb, and even the A-plot had more than its fair share of cliches and contrivances, but I loved the scenes between Wes and Picard in the cavern.
