lol. And the Children Shall Lead won both editions of this game. 7 years later... people still think it sucks.
2) I don't like process, because people who sat online all day got to vote over and over, while I could vote only once. The polling feature would be more fair. Maybe a series of elimination polls could be done next time, tournament style.
What's interesting about polls? We see them all the time.
How about allowing the thread creator to use the Tantalus Device to monitor voters? If someone votes too many times......Zaapppppppp!

What is "too many times" though? As it stands people have one vote per round. For me personally, I always steered clear of implementing time limits on voting in the final round because we play this game on the other forums too, which in some cases have far fewer posters than the TOS forum. With a rule stating you can only vote once per day or whatever... this game would take forever on the Voyager or Enterprise forums.
You know, say what you will about the other "worst of Trek" stories, most of them were doomed from the outset because they had ridiculous and/or ill-conceived premises that essentially doomed them from the start - "The Infinite Vulcan" for instance revolves around a giant clone of Spock, "Shades of Grey" was a zero-effort clipshow, "Profit and Lace" came around from the idea of Quark in drag, "Threshold" involves people travelling at infinite speed and resultantly changed into lizards, and "These Are The Voyages" wasn't even really an episode of the series it was supposed to be a part of.
"And the Children Shall Lead" had a premise - evil alien influences the minds of children and turns them into killers - that could have easily worked in competent hands, and yet fails for the simple reason that it's an incredibly bad story.
Good post except I don't think that was the reason for the failure and I'm not sure what the difference is between a premise and a story in your post . ATCSL is actually quite creepy and even scary at times but doesn't work because of little things like the masturbahonk gestures and Shatner's two ridiculous freakouts. A lot of the story elements work quite well and the premise is solid. It easily escapes my bottom five, maybe my bottom 10.
What defines a round? Spock's Barber voted four times on this topic, which means he alone eliminated 1/5th of the episodes. What is "too many times" though? As it stands people have one vote per round.

And those people are right....it does suck. Fred Freiberger and his pals Edward Lakso and Melvin Belli each helped to create one of the worst TOS episodes.
