The Most Disliked Episode of ENT, 2023 Edition - Season 2...

Farscape One

Admiral

Welcome to our bi-yearly 'Most Disliked Episode' games! Now that the 'Least Disliked Episode' games hosted by BlueStuff (who inspired me to create these games, so thank you very much for paving the way) have concluded, we can begin the opposite side of that coin.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

Season 2... while many consider this a boring season, I think it's more accurate to say it's a mixed bag. There are some boring ones, yes, but there are some genuinely good episodes this season. I'll start off with one of the best of the series.

"MINEFIELD" was a great story for Reed, who needed some development. It was also a very tense episode from beginning to end. And a nice way of introducing the Romulans without stepping on the toes of any of the other shows. I've always loved this one, and it was a great first credit for John Shiban, who came from THE X-FILES after it ended to be a co-executive producer here for this season.

"Regeneration" As dumb as Enterprise's various contrivances for working around the timeline were, this is one time I thought it really paid off.

I was going to save Regeneration too. They shouldn't have done it, but at least it was a good use of the Borg, and it was the scariest use of them since Scorpion.

S2 has some good episodes, but it is easily one of the worst seasons of the franchise.

I'll go with Cogentor, as it was great seeing Trip clashing with his old friend Archer over the Cogenitor's rights. Also, Andreas Katsulus makes his final screen appearance here, and it's a good one.

Both "COGENITOR" and "REGENERATION" would have been next on my list after my current choice... which is "DEAD STOP". (I salute you both, by the way.)

Roxann Dawson proves herself again as an excellent director. And her voice for the station was just perfect for creating that extra creepy vibe to an already creepy episode.

As a horror fan, this was awesome. As a fan of good STAR TREK... this was awesome!

And after four eliminations, every worthwhile episode is gone, and we are left with nothing but absolute trash. Truly Trek’s worst season.

i will save “Vanishing Point” for that hilarious scene where Phlox finds the dab of goo (Hoshi’s supposed remains), and then says “her parents will want this” as he scoops up half of it and leaves the rest behind to be walked on!

I love Carbon Creek so much, I can’t believe it hasn’t already been saved! It’s such a fun episode and the episode tag with T’Pol is just perfect! T'Mir is wonderful and, to my mind, may have encouraged the adaptability that lets T’Pol serve with a human crew longer than any previous Vulcan. Mestral is adorable and I love him more than any other guest star Vulcan.

I'll go with "Cease Fire", a good continuation of the Vulcan/Andorian storyline, and one of the only episodes from this season that I remember that hasn't already been saved.

"The Expanse" has a great teaser, though on a whole I think it's a fairly lousy episode and extraordinarily over-rated.

It may come as no surprise that I'm saving "PRECIOUS CARGO"!!! It wouldn't have been my first choice if I'd've been here earlier, but with all the best episodes already saved, I have no qualms about saving my favourite bit of fluff - I think Padma Lakshmi is almost perfect as Kaitaama, T'Pol is hilarious as the 'Adjudicator', and Trip is as delicious as always in his blue Starfleet undercrackers :luvlove: :adore: :rommie:

My next save is "SINGULARITY".

While the concept is nothing new, the execution was great. I like how everyone gets obsessed slowly as they get closer to the source. The episode had a nice creepy vibe, and the music helped elevate that creepiness.

Plus, the effects were excellent.

I’ll save “The Catwalk”. There’s something entertaining about seeing them crammed into close quarters and Malcolm’s and T’Pol’s adjustment issues.

I'll save Judgment next. I love the homage to TUC's Klingon trial and Rura Penthe, and J.G. Hertzler's appearance as Kolos was fun, if not as good as Martok. :klingon:

This might sound insane to some, but I'm going to save "A NIGHT IN SICKBAY" next.

I've always been a dog lover, and an episode centering on Archer just staying with his four legged family member while he's sick is something many of us dog lovers have gone through. It's relatable because they are members of our family.

Also, seeing Phlox's menagerie of creatures was fun.

I get why a lot of people hate this one... it does make Archer look bad as a diplomat for much of the episode. But I can forgive this because it's Porthos. And he almost had one paw in Beagle heaven. (My wife absolutely loves that line.)

I'll save "Marauders." Like all of these, it is just awful through and through, but I've met the writer of this ep and he's a nice guy. (And I don't think he's responsible for the failure. It was clearly systemic problems this season, which a freelancer can't fix)

The Seventh had a somewhat interesting look at T'Pol's background, even if it wasn't an amazing episode.

I'll remove The Communicator. It has a nice idea at its centre and I think it's one of the better 'Pre-Federation/Starfleet' stories that explores why certain rules are more codified in the future.
