This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

First act aside, I always hated "Who Mourns For Morn?"

But I just rewatched it and for the first time it suddenly worked for me, the comedy clicked at last. I laughed the whole time. So I love that ep the most at this moment, as it's rare for me to so completely reverse my view on an ep I previously wasn't into -- it's almost like discovering one last new DS9 episode, 20 years later.

Tears of The Prophets was a great jumpstart to season 7. I loved the Weyoun-Demar-Dukat dynamic, and seeing Bashir and Quark drinking their sorrows away at Vic's before Jadzia's death.

"Wrongs Darker than Death or Night"

I liked most of the episodes where Kira's story arc is developed, and I felt like the issues covered in this episode had a lot of nuance. Despite her strong feelings and convictions, Kira is still often shown to be very conflicted, and this episode was no exception. I don't believe there was an attempt to moralize or guide the viewer toward any conclusions. It was kept very deliberately gray and ambiguous. It was uncomfortable, and it was supposed to be.

I can nitpick things around the margins, but "Sacrifice Of Angels" is one of DS9's most impactful episodes. It is packed with scenes I can watch again and again.

[Seven of Five]

A Time to Stand is a wonderful start to the season, showing just how grim things have gotten in the opening months of the war. Gritty Bashir, is such a shock to start with, as is the uneasy truce on Terok Nor where Kira and Odo are doing their best to carry on. Quark's speech the occupation not being that bad is good too.

"Waltz." While on the whole, I didn't enjoy what they did with someone who had been a villain with shades of gray and more than ham fisted, moustache twirling eeeeevil, I did feel that every scene between Sisko and Dukat in this episode was powerful. I think it really dug into Dukat's Narcissistic wounds and conveyed the mindset in a realistic (if a bit dramatic at times) way. I also liked the secondary conflict among the crew about what to do when it came to duty vs. saving their captain. It worked. Sadly, it was one of the last Dukat centric episodes that did work for me.

"Honor Among Thieves." This was hands down one of my most favorite O'Brien centric episodes of the entire show. I liked the gritty feel of it. They did a good job depicting an out of the way, run down sort of district/planet. They fleshed out the main antagonist as someone with a situation you could empathize with, even if you deplored his methods.

Favor the Bold is a great build-up for Sacrifice of Angels. Sisko is planning to retake DS9, and Odo's ambivalence to his friends plight in trying sabotage Damar's plan is chilling. Kira and his talk was very frosty.

Vic annoys me in a lot of other appearances, but I like the "His Way" intro. I was doing a DS9 rewatch a few years ago with a friend, and we did a 5-episode block of "Change Of Heart", "Wrongs Darker...", "Inquisition", "Pale Moonlight", and then "His Way." And that was suddenly how I came to appreciate what this episode had to offer, as a boozy late-night epilogue after several hours dwelling in morally compromised darkness.

Saving Behind the Lines. It's laying down pipe for the next episodes, but still has wonderful moments of doubt and betrayal. Kira nearly bashes in the doorbell, AND DAX BECOMES THE CAPTAIN OF THE DEFIANT.

"Sons and Daughters." For the moment ignoring all of the ugly implications about Worf as a father between his characterization on TNG to his crossover to DS9, I feel like this episode was something of a course correction and a welcome development for both characters. I also liked the Ziyal/Kira/Dukat storyline. Ziyal was a character with a lot of wasted potential. In this episode, at least, she was given some development. Then again, I'm always a sucker for the family dynamics episodes. (Whoops, Ninjad twice, so editing the list to reflect it.)
