I guess I'll throw a vote to Prophet Motive. It's at least mildly amusing. Between that and Time's Orphan cause everything else is outwardly awful or just play joyless.

It'd have to get down to the real dregs before I give any vote to the episode that made Alexander an imbecile who no longer cared about peace.

Sons and Daughters is next for me. Dukat is definitely a complicated character, and I love his relationship with Ziyal, so that's the only thing that saves it for me.

On closer examination this is six of one, and half a dozen of the other... My bad! Also other people's bad! We're all bad, and that's good! Carry on!

You are right. I just did a double check, and I did see you vote for "PLAYING GOD" didn't carry over. Since another episode was eliminated and the counts were reset, the result is still what it should be.

Funny to watch "Sons & Daughters" right on the edge there. For me, it would truly make a worthy winner of the whole thing. It trashes the happily resolved Alexander arc of TNG, for a story that rings completely false. It trashes Kira's amazing arc from "Rocks & Shoals" by giving her a follow-up that makes no sense whatsoever. It harms the occupation story overall by being such a failed note within it.

I also can't get over how easily they could have just picked up with the "Soldiers Of The Empire" crew from the prior season, if they wanted a Klingon ep here. THAT episode was a very successful pilot for "Star Trek: Klingon"! It all worked fantastically! We are now going back to the same exact ship! Just go back to those characters and do another episode with them!

To have all that potential just sitting there, and to junk it in favor of that Alexander story... it's writers room malpractice.

I also thought it had the worst line in all of Star Trek ("When a father and son don't speak, it means there's trouble between them") until Discovery came along ("Don't be so binary -- in my universe he was pansexual and we had def-con level fun together, and you too papi.")

"SONS AND DAUGHTERS" was produced before "ROCKS AND SHOALS", and I always wondered if the backslide of Kira's arc had something to do with that production change. It might have been a last minute change that was too late to change within the scripts. Plus, this was the first time in the franchise that such an arc was being done with so many episodes in a row, and given how awesome the arc was, I can give them a mulligan on that one.

Yes, that Martok line was ridiculous... but Hertzler sold it, and even though it was a bad line, he made it into a 'Martokism'.

Only Martok can turn such a mundane line into a fun piece of dialogue.
