Game The Most Disliked Episode/Movie Directed By Jonathan Frakes

"Parturition" was cliche-riddled, but at least it finally put paid to the terrible "jealous Neelix" storyline. IMO it still managed to make better use of its characters than did Insurrection. And it notably does not contain such lines as:

TROI: And have you noticed how your boobs have started to firm up?
CRUSHER: Not that we care about such things in this day and age.

DATA: In the event of a water landing, I have been programmed to serve as a personal flotation device.

Also, I didn't pay good money to see it. Not that I'm bitter.

TNG Feature: "Star Trek: Insurrection" for the "win."

Both Parturition and Insurrection were embarrassing to watch, at times.

Annoying Neelix had become a caricature of the potential he has in S1, which was a real shame. Insurrection is more of a total disappointment though. It just feels like a two-parter from later TNG that was just thrown together, with nothing particularly special to define it.

Good choice on the win.

Am I crazy, or has almost everything he directed past "Drumhead" been mediocre to downright terrible?

Judging by the eliminations in this thread, I'd say you're crazy. :bolian:

The first feature to win a game! I do find Insurrection practically unwatchable. Now only TAS has a perfect record of no wins.

Next game -- our 47th in this round! -- to be posted tomorrow (or maaaybe tonight? Probably tomorrow). Thanks for playing everyone, hope to see you all there!

Will it be the Gillagan's Island version: Worst Directed Episode ... and the rest?

Since it's game #47, it's probably going to be "The Most Disliked Episode Written By Joe Menosky" -- the man who first established the in-joke of the number 47 appearing constantly in Star Trek.

I was just trying to figure out if it was cute or obnoxious to first run "The Most Disliked 47th Episode Of A Star Trek Series", of which there are only 5 such episodes... possible quickest game ever! :bolian:

If I understand your question correctly, I'd rather not switch over to the "Least Disliked" format yet (where we're eliminating episodes we hate to end up with a great one at the end), since I feel so drowned with negativity everywhere else in life right now. Even though we're building towards a "bad" winner, I am particularly enjoying that this format allows for the posts themselves to always be positive (or, almost always, until we're at the last few choices where you have to really reach for anything good to say).

But I do eventually intend to flip it and run the lists in the reverse way. (Though not after going to some of the specific show forums for some theme lists that only apply to one series)

Sorry, what I wrote seems to have been confusing. I was wondering if we would get a catch-all for the the other actor-directors. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

That thought had crossed my mind! I feel like there might be another one or two more actor directors with enough credits to make their own list, then I was going to see who was left over and see if it made sense to group them...

I'm constantly impressed at the way you keep going with these games! We've been playing since March! :luvlove::luvlove::luvlove: I think you must be an essential gamemaker.

Thanks! I'm a bit surprised myself. :bolian: This really does help me maintain my pandemic sanity...
