THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

THE RULES: Below is a list of TNG, DS9, and VOY episodes directed by Cliff Bole. Trek's fourth most prolific director!

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

Defiant is a great action-packed episode of DS9. The return of Tom Riker was a fun twist at the beginning of the episode. Also, any time early in the series, when Sisko and Dukat were forced to work together for the sake of peace, it usually made for interesting viewing.

I have always had a soft spot for "DRAMATIS PERSONAE", so that is saved.

This episode benefits the most out of most in the franchise precisely because of where it's placed in production and airdate order.

If it was made in season 2, the trust issues would be too unrealistic. If it was earlier in season 1, there wasn't enough of the trust built to realistically attempt this.

A Gamma Quadrant myth basically being reenacted... mythology, the hallmark of Joe Menosky. That's why I love this.

I love Tim Russ in Meld so that's next. It's interesting why Tuvok took it upon himself to understand Sudar's motives after he murdered someone in such an arbitrary way. The results, are great to watch, and I also love Sudar becoming more logical like Tuvok.

I'm saving Tuvix. We tend to forget, I think, that inoffensive, and/or forgettable episodes make up a sizable chunk of Trek. Say what you will, and regardless on which side you fall on the issue, the fact that this episode can spark intense debates some 25 years later says a lot, I think.

It's OK, I quite like Tuvix as well.

Cardassians is next for me. I love the O'Brien family ginner scene where Rugal is staying with them temporarily. Miles isn'tvery happy about it but starts pushing his food away just as Rugal is doing the same.

I like the involvement of Garak and Dukat in this one too.
