Game The Most Disliked Cast Crossover Episode/Movie

THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

THE RULES: Below is a list of TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, DIS, PIC, LD, and PRO episodes, plus some movies, which feature crossover appearances from regulars on other series. (This excludes guest spots that predate their regular roles, so we don't have Tim Russ's TNG or DS9 guest spots, for example. And this only includes actors who were regulars -- recurring actor crossovers are excluded.)

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns. Leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

New players are always welcome, you do not have to already be a "most disliked game" regular to dive in.

And I am going to start by saving one of those Prodigy eps, "Kobayashi."

I mean, how can you top this? Spock, Uhura, Beverly, Odo, AND Scotty? Thanks animation!

My only critique is that the audio was too all over the place in the final scene between Dal & Spock. Spock should have morphed into his younger self for that final scene -- to better relate to young Dal -- so Ethan Peck could record fresh dialogue. It was a good first thought to try to make it work with archival Nimoy clips, but unfortunately the finished product shows they just did not have the right kind of audio available to land that.

But damn did I jump out of my seat when I realized where they were going with that episode and all the classic characters started appearing. Amazing!

I have a soft spot for

TNG, Season 1: “Encounter At Farpoint” (Admiral McCoy)

The McCoy scene is fairly charming, though when McCoy is discussing how Data can be so precise, Data's actual information was as generic - only years. No months, weeks, days, hours, nanoseconds, attoseconds, et al, were stated.

The rest of the story feels like two stories mashed into one - both the space anthropomorphic jellyfish and, of course, Q, since just gawking at pink and purple jellyfish laserblasting the planet for 90 minutes would not be all that exciting.

I just can't get off the animation with my saves today, but damn do I love Lower Decks, and "Kayshon, His Eyes Open" is one of their greatest episodes. I could not stop laughing at that one. Kayshon is a brilliant character. All the Easter Eggs on the Collectors ship were so fun. Every character was fabulously used.

My next entry involves KHAAAAAAAAA- General Chang.

TOS Feature: "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" (Colonel Worf)

So glad Shatner didn't have to do the broken record routine of screaming his big foe's name... that worked great once, but at best it'd be diminishing returns at play and at worst it'd look utterly stupid.

Worf's presence is a bit sketchy. He doesn't say or do much, and is Klingon lineage "I am Worf, song of Mogh, who was son of Worf, who was son of Old MacDonald - E-I-E-I-O"? I know of a few other nitpicks, but the movie's strengths far outweigh those.

This one makes for a final last hurrah for TOS - certainly until Generations, a movie - despite its blunders - still gets rather a lot right (despite my lengthy whines on that one). Plus a cool crash scene.

Anyway, Chang had a terrific setup and build-up considering how fast we had to get a backstory in on him and motivations and all, the perfect actor to bring said character to life, and - treachery aside - is almost the Klingon mirror of Kirk. (IMHO, Captain Klaa from TFF is closer to that accolade (if only we had more of him than Admiral Hansen's big glowing mugshot laughing at Sybok), and Chang had to be treacherous considering the movie's very scope... Actually, in some ways Gorkon is also a possible mirror of Kirk...)

Flashback is really fun. It was a cool way to bring in Sulu and Rand.

On initial airing, I loathed it. With all the talk of a Sulu series, but it being replaced by Voyager and all we got two years later was a rehash with new plot elements shoehorned in, especially Tuvok retconned in for seemingly no reason... and an ending that felt like a slap in the face against Kirk and co rather than a celebratory homage...

...but in later years there's much I've grown to like, the ST6 Excelsior cast return and are a joy to see... they do flesh out some of the movie and in actually interesting ways. It gets repetitive and too convenient toward the end (as if they just realized they have 5 minutes of screenplay left so they had to finish the denouement as quick as possible), but using brain technobabble instead of the usual time travel shtick is a big plus. And the same homage scene at the end I perceived differently and better as well... But Tuvok's somewhat specific mention of age is later thrown out of the torpedo bay in later episodes didn't help...
