The most beautiful thing you have ever seen is...?

Very hard question. A friend of mine is the most beautiful body I have ever seen, but I'm more of a nature fan. Coming back from school one day crossing a bridge over the Chicopee River (In case anyone is from W.MA) the sun was setting and there were just some high thin clouds that were different colors that were moving to the "left" and then the rest of sky was blue besides a few puffy white clouds that were moving to the right. It was awesome.

We women just aren't as mushy as the men when it comes to our significant others. :p

Speak for yourself. I have been plenty mushy to any girlfriend I may or may not have had. :p

(seriously. I have been known to buy flowers without provocation. Ain't that mushy? :D )

A clear night sky, but not for the usual reason. It's the area between stars that get me. Most people see just black, but I always feel like there is something just beyond the edge of my vision. Like looking into a dark room. You know something is there, but it's just out of reach. It makes me want to go there and see what's hidden.

I'm interested to see that so many people have replied about something natural, from nature. I'm really not sure of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, but I'm sure it's something from nature for me, too. I live in Devon in the UK and we have some breathtaking views around here. This weekend I drove from Devon into Dorcheseter. There was some snow on the ground, the sky was a clear, icy blue. The naked trees against the sky were fabulous, and the wide valley was really beautiful and uplifting.

I can remember reading an interview with an astrounaut, I think it was Buzz Aldrin, who said that in his opinion, nothing manmade is as constantly beautiful as beauty from nature. You can see a thousand sunsets and they will always be beautiful.

In terms of manmade beauty, Michaelangelo's David is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

I love the clear night sky, especially in winter when it's cold and crisp.

I have had enough of winter here. Right now, the only thing I want cold and crisp is a beverage! :p

That reminds me of a silly thing I used to do when I was a kid. I used to sit on my lawn and shine a flashlight into the night sky. I wondered about the path the light would take as it left my flashlight and wandered its way through the universe...

And for a combination of natural and man-made beauty perfectly complementing one another, my vote goes to Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Kaufmann House (“Fallingwater”) in Pennsylvania.

A close second would be the elegant, exquisitely balanced forms of the Golden Gate Bridge against its spectacular natural backdrop.

It's hard to say what the most beautiful thing I've ever seen is. The Hubble pictures are certainly among the most beautiful, and many of the pictures from the various probes in the Solar System are as well. The Grand Canyon was beautiful. I've seen a lot of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I love the forest, especially the way the leaves gentle rustle in a Summer breeze. The forms of wind-sculpted rock in the desert are beautiful. Storm clouds, the female form, exotic animals. Nature, I suppose, in all its diverse forms, is what I find beautiful.

My kids. No doubt.

IMO the most beautiful building in the world is the Taj Mahal.

I do think it's quite beautiful, but I found that many of the old forts/palaces in Rajasthan were just as beautiful, if not more so.

My kids. No doubt.

Your children are both adorable but your daughter here has a smile that is just pure sweetness. It's like a straight shot of happiness just to look at her!

Obviously, my wife and kids.
One night I was up in Sequoia in early January. It was a clear winter night. The full moon was illuminating everything, and snow was falling steadily. FOr this Los ANgeles boy who had never really seen snow, it was incredible.

1. Going-to-the-Sun Road, Glacier NP
2. Margerie Glacier, Glacier Bay NP
3. Mesa Arch, Canyonlands NP
4. The Hoodoos, Bryce Canyon NP

You can see I've got a National Park theme going.

I have loved that house for years. :)
Yes, it's gorgeous, and the way Wright integrated the house into its setting is both an artistic and an engineering tour-de-force.

Don't think I'd want to live in it, though. The sound of that damn waterfall day and night would drive me bonkers.

In this vein, i'd give big points to Pebble Beach Golf Course. It's really been beautifully carved from the coastline. When I visited, I was blown away by how thoughtfully and delicately it's been crafted. A wonderful example of man applying the finishing touches to nature to make it stunningly beautiful.

Honestly...

Rita Hayworth...and she is not a "thing".

If it was a "thing"... SR-71 Black Bird or The Space Shuttle.
