The MISC sweater thread

As most of us are freezing our cotton tails off this winter, there are a few consolations that come with the cold weather.

What's that, you say?

Wearing sweaters, of course! *does sweater dance*

So lets hear it for sweaters. If you love sweaters (I'm talking about the cute kind, not that crap the Cliff Huxtable wore). Me, I'm partial to cardigans, since I can wear a tank under them and if my building's freezing or hot as hell I'm covered.

I lucked up and got a shitload of them this month, what with a sale at the Ann Taylor factory store and Old Navy. I now own over a dozen cardigans. I even got a nice lemony yellow one to wear with the sexy dress I got a TJMaxx.

So let's hear it for sweaters!!!

Oh man, where do I even start on the awesomeness that are sweaters?

Personal favorites being the cable-knit crew neck. I have 5 in various colors and 2 black ones. These are my personal favorites. I wear one just about every day since it's so cold here.

Up next would be the ribbed sweaters that go up the neck a little bit.

And then there's the argyles. Those only get whipped out for special occasions though. Manly for going to bars and clubs.

Argyles are manly for the bars?

I love my sweaters...living in Canada (especially this winter!) I need them!

Yes, I have my two new cardigans from Old Navy (as a matter of fact, I buy all my sweaters there!), a beige cowl neck 'kangaroo' sweater, my 2 cable knits (grey and off white) crew neck, my cable knit 'v' neck (red), my fine knit cotton 'v' (burgandy), my 2 cable knit round neck cardigans (blue and grey, both with white trim), my 2 fine knit striped (beige/brown and red/brown) round neck, my grey zip-up sweater, my two zip-up hoodies (brown and grey)...all Old Navy either this season or last :D

I'm all about my wool sweaters. Nothing better! Right now I want to get a good guernsey, I'm just trying to justify the cost, as I have no money. :p

Lime cardigan goodness:

I've noticed quite a few argyle sweaters at the bars around Austin. I guess it's the sudden cold weather. :rommie:

I have one light blue one I got from Target. I just counted, and I'm at 13 cardigans.

"I think you have too many cardigans."
"Shut UP!"

In my part of Virginia, it doesn't always get cold enough for sweaters. I can wear thin, short sleeved or three-quarter sleeve sweaters in winter and that's about it. I can only wear heavy, long sleeved sweaters when it's bitterly cold, and that's rare.

I'm co president of my highschool calculus teachers "cardigan club" for a reason...

Anyone remember this?

We Must We Must We Must
We Must Improve Our Bust
The Bigger the Better, The Tighter the Sweater
And So We Must!

:p

I'm rather keen on zip-up hoodies. Pull-over hoodies, I could do without.

Argyle... I say that some can pull it off, others can't. I think Argyle suits a certain body type... mine not being one of them.

I've heard the beginning part (and it pops into my head any time I'm doing stretching exercises with my arms over my head) but I'd never heard the rest. Very funny!

Okay, at my high school it was,
We Must We Must
We Must Increase Our Bust
For Fear For Fear
The Boys Will Not Come Near

But maybe there are several verses?

I'm into the whole Mr. Rogers look myself.

It's you I like,
It's not the things you wear,
It's not the way you do your hair--
But it's you I like
The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you--
Not the things that hide you,
Not your toys--
They're just beside you.

But it's you I like--
Every part of you,
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you'll remember
Even when you're feeling blue
That it's you I like,
It's you yourself,
It's you, it's you I like

Did you know his mom hand-knitted those sweaters? Mr. Rogers was awesome. And so are you, Mallory, the way you are right now; it's you I like. :)

I have 37 sweaters hanging in my closet at the moment of all sorts. Cardigans, hoodies, zip-up, pull-over, V-neck, crew-neck, turtle-neck, sweater vests, heavy wool, what have you. I tend to buy about 15 new sweaters each season and cycle them out after two years or if they displease me. But then I'm a whore for winter clothes of all sorts. I also have 7 coats in regular rotation. :borg:

I love sweaters, but I prefer the pull-over, or jumper, to the cardigan. But, as it's rarely that cold here, I don't get to wear them that often.

I have one Coldwater Creek sweater, in blue, that I got as a gift over a year ago. That is probably my favorite piece of clothing. I would wear it every day, if I could.

I have assorted sweaters in all sorts of colours. They serve a dual purpose for me - not only suitable clothing, but hours of entertainment knitting them. I knit all my own, and have an endless supply of new clothing.
Right now I am sporting one with a teddy bear on front...

That sounds fun...you should post a pic or two of them!

Nothing like a warm sweater when it's frigid out. I have some Dale wool sweaters I can't wear enough. Cardigans are good too. :)
