The Mirror Universe Does not exist

The novel is also linked in pivotal ways to the Mirror Universe novel Rise Like Lions and the novel Silent Weapons, a novel in the TNG Cold Equations trilogy. Both also written by David Mack.

Thanks Wormhole, I'll have to look into those. David Mack has a lot of material to cover!

Or you could be one of those fans who would contest that the books are not canon.

I read Zero Sum Game and liked it but now having found out what Disavowed is about I might be inclined to skip it.

Please do get it, the book is excellent. It's more intense than the previous one and delves deeper into Section 31, the relationship between Bashir and Douglas, the Breen (and it's Spetskar Special Forces), as well as the Mirror Universe and it's Commonwealth of planets vs the Dominion and Jem'Hadar. There are others involved as well, and how can anyone resist Picard and the Enterprise in action?

The adventure is worth it. Really.

Enjoy!

The
I like Bashir a lot... I just don't care about the Mirror Universe at all.

Then read it for that reason. The book begins with the Breen and ends with Bashir.

I don't have a problem with the Mirror Universe, but was disturbed by the Vulcan tech that was watching the Multiverse! I thought one alternate universe was enough and didn't think ST overall supported the idea. Dimensional beings are interesting enough in my book!

Anyway, the books of Mack are good reads!

As you can tell by my Username, I'm a fan of the Breen and Mack's two books I mentioned have them squarely in the fight. "Zero Sum Game" really delved into their multi-species nature and cultural obscurity. It was fun reading about Bashir and Douglas infiltrating them. And that was just about obtaining slipstream tech. This time it's a jaunt ship and Wormhole tech!

Well, they're not canon, as Star Trek canon is defined as only the onscreen material. There's not really any debate about that fact, and I'm sure 99% of Trek authors would tell you the same.

It doesn't mean that the novels aren't good or worth reading; just that none of it is considered binding material when they're making new Trek movies or TV shows.

Fair enough and absolutely non-canonical, but Mack's materials brought to life onscreen would IMHO be better than most ST movies, if not the best. I personally like the USS Aventine and her crew. A fight to the death with the Breen in ZSG.

We have never seen the Federation fight the Breen in a movie nor have seen Section 31 in action. The Mirror Universe would truly be beyond the "last frontier" of our universe!

I'm still making my way through the Typhon Pact books so it will be a while before I get to Disavowed. I might change my mind before then. We'll see.

Disavowed is actually better than TP: ZSG, but also more complex.

Mack's style and descriptions for tech are great, but I had one problem with Disavowed. There is a time paradox and loop.

The mirror universe likely does not exist, I've come to this conclusion today after asking every I speak to and not one person has ever been there....
