The Master's alliances with other Who villains

Doctorwhovian

Fleet Captain
The Master of course debuted with the second Auton story, but most of his other alliances during that time were mostly one-shot bad guys like the Axons and the Daemons (with the exception of the Sea Devils, who are Silurians sort of).

However of course in Frontier In Space (Delgado's final story) he has an alliance with the Daleks (and their servants the Ogrons who were introduced in Day of the Daleks) to cause a war between Earth and the Draconians although this is not revealed until the final episode or so (Which leads into Planet of the Daleks). However I think it's interesting that in the TV movie, the Master is "executed" by the Daleks, and the new series it's revealed he was 'so scared' by the time war once things started to go south (The Emperor taking over the cruciform or something) that he created the Yana persona to hide from them.

The Cybermen's also an interesting one-In The Five Doctors, they don't trust him of course, and of course he disposes them using the laser (or lightning in the special edition) board pi thing death trap. What's interesting in Dark Water/Death in Heaven is that with the Missy version, they seem to be no more than foot soldiers and possess no will of their own.

Should the Master team up again with any other villains? Or does that diminish both?

I loved the team-up of the Master and the Cyberman in Dark Water. However I think next time I'd like to see him/her act alone.

He was amusing with the Rani in 'Mark of the Rani'. She was the only one besides the Doctor, who was at the Masters level. The squabbling between all 3 of them was amusing.

The Ogrons looks an awful like the Uruks in the Lord of the Rings movies, I wonder how an updated version would look....

I did like the Rani in "Mark", the way she held her own against the Master. Too bad she was caught in the mess that was "Time and the Rani"

Somehow linking The Master to the Great Intellegence might prove interesting (although the G.I. was never clearly defined IMO).

Honestly, what is the Master's ultimate goal? Power, yes, but to what end? The Master's stories (following Delgado's death) were so largely concerned with keeping himself alive that a clear motivation seems lost. Just having him/her be a nutty meglomaniac isn't quite enough.
