The Maple Leaf Lounge

the cbc had an article yesterday on Canada Post's crappy delivery service where parcels are carded than being dropped off despite being home.

low and behold what happens today?

fuckwit cards a parcel I was expecting but not surprised at that.

Happened the same with the last parcel I expected from them - it was memory modules so bought on E-bay and with expedited delivery. Was small and would have fitted in my mailbox box without a problem.

Makes life hard for the staff who work the postal outlets in Shoppers etc cos they have to take the brunt of people's anger cos Canada Post can't do it's fucking job then wonders why no-one wants to use it's service.

I live in a 15 storey building and we have the same mail carrier, who's been doing this route forever, and he's always been the "cheerful mailman" trope come to life, really.

Any day he's off? I've seen every one of the substitute carriers just walk up and stick the day's sorry-we-missed-you cards in the lobby, or stuck on the front of the building door and drive off. Zero attempt to see if even one of the recipients was home. And, might I add, not exactly sneaky about it either.

If this is an indication of where deliveries are going, then to be honest I'd rather just get an e-mail telling me to go pick it up instead of wasting time with the card.

This is perhaps a controversial opinion, but I really disagree with deporting Sidhu.

I know today's hearing was basically a fait accompli, and there are still more steps in the process that he can pursue, so it's not technically over. But the news today was still discouraging.

It is controversial, but I agree with you about disagreeing with the deportation order. If it was an open-and-shut case of inadmissibility to proceed with an immigration claim due to a conviction, that's one thing. But the commission and their spokespeople went out of their way to talk about all the humanitarian and mitigating factors that they 'couldn't' assess. Which begs the question, would those factors have been assessed in a low-profile, routine immigration processing?

Leaving aside any feelings one way or the other about the deportation, I absolutely don't want a headline-chasing, politically motivated performative clown court for a judiciary. We can see that unfolding in the states, and left wing, right wing, or no wings at all, that doesn't seem to be working for anyone there...so I really hope there was no pressure on this commission to find a certain way.

So, I tried Tim's Flatbread pizza last night. Had an all-day event outside town and needed something quick and easy, and my Dad and I each got one. He got the Bacon Everything (basically Bacon and everything seasoning) and I got Chicken Parmesan. We both agreed the Chicken Parmesan was the best one. And surprisingly, it was quite decent for what it was.

So we have federal politicals who are talking out of school to foreign govts and their agents.

Think it was very telling when watching the news last night.

the government wasn't naming names and pierre pissant and the tories were very quiet with just the ndp an bloc speaking about.

something tells me that both liberal and tory mp's are caught up in it (and questions have been rasied about the interference in the processor that saw poilievere become conservative leader).

Considering their normal MAGA-Light antics, it does seem very telling how quiet they are being (although the social media accounts of their followers have not been silent, claiming it is all Trudeau and his NWO Chinese Commie takeover), but I want names. If there is enough solid evidence that this is being reported on, the public should know, even if they can't be charged, regardless of party. Especially going into an election.

A Caesars wife situation here - anyone still active and on those lists should be removed from every unelected office & the caucuses, and the people in the riding aware of who they may be voting for.

Should be fun if it comes out that tory mp has been giving info to the chinese (and if anyone thinks that no conservative would do that I can give them the name of Australian conservative MP suspected of close ties to the ccp and another who jumped ship from the parliament to a very well paying job lobbying for chinese interests).

or vote to expel them from the parliament (a more fitting punishment which if successful sees them loose any post parliamentary benefits).

I won't be surprised if it comes out that there is in fact a deep Conservative-Xi Regime connection in play here. That FIPPA Harper signed Canada onto disturbs me to this day in terms of consequences we still can't fully guess at.

I cannot comprehend how it's physically possible to do the EdgeWalk.

They just showed a bunch of people doing it during the Yankees/Jays game. I'm getting vertigo just watching it.

Do these people have no fear lobe, or what?

That actually reminds me of a video Joseph DeBenedicitis did. I think I might have posted it in this thread before. His schtick is that he usually brings along an American to experience Canadian things.

In one of his videos, he and an American friend go to Ottawa and manage to get their way into Trudeau's office.

Perhaps they realize it doesn't look good in the mirror. And there's hope (maybe) that the events that happened brought about a realization of needed change. And by making a statement like this, they're not so much addressing the left, but their own voter base. Kind of like the equivalent to tell their voters to chill out.
