The Maple Leaf Lounge

Poilievre has his own meetings with bad people on record. Jeremy McKenzie of Diagalon infamy, for example, and the donut deliveries to the Convoy Coup Crowd.

As for mainland China...who was it that cut that FIPPA deal that locked us into a business relationship with the Xi Regime for thirty years, with the proviso that some of the clauses in that FIPPA can't even be made public???

Oh, yes, it was Poilievre's once-official and continuing-unofficially-still-boss, Stephen Harper!

So we lost Gordon Pinsent today. I'm sure it'll be discussed elsewhere on TrekBBS...

:wah:

In his honor I present what is probably one of the funniest Hap Shaughnessy bits ever

"Or as I used to call him, Grandpa Nick." :guffaw:

Yeah, this one really saddens me. He was a Canadian legend. I've been rewatching Due South lately, and so I've been seeing him pop up frequently. R.I.P! He was a great talent.

Has anyone checked on Gordon Lightfoot?

I will totally lose it if Gordon Lightfoot passes. He's my favorite singer of all time. I literally grew up listening to his music. Even got to see him a few times in concert. The man is a total musical genius.

Now that Massey Hall is open again (and I can once again visit Toronto) I would freaking LOVE to see him perform there.

Actually I'd love to see ANYONE perform at Massey. I've heard wonderful things about the place. Can't wait to see it for myself!

I dunno if he's still performing. I thought I'd read something about his retirement about a year or so ago. I could be wrong though.

I am grateful that I got to thank Mr. Pinsent for his work on Due South and Power Play at an event in Ottawa some decades ago. I think it may have been Magnetic North at the National Arts Centre.

So the NS Mass Casualty report from the shooting is out

Not a pretty outcome for the RCMP.

I’m surprised at that as it seemed the commission was set up to give them cover.

Ice and lightening today. Half a mil no power with the major utilities. My local utility has major outages all around me but I currently have juice. Bunch of large tree limbs just came down, hit my building. Surveyed the damage and warned a neighbour who parks under a tree she may want to move.

I hope Carlos & Pepe's is still there in Montréal. Best Mexican food I've ever had. In fact it's totally spoiled me so I have a hard time eating Mexican food here at home!

Two more weeks... :)

It looks like they've still got a website, so you may be in luck!

One thing to be aware of, the federal workers' union (PSAC) is currently on strike. The president of the union has intimated that one of the effects of the strike may be a slowdown at borders and airports, as CBSA administrative workers could be off the job. Just wanted to give you a heads-up in case this is still going on when you visit.

Enjoy your trip!

Speaking of the strike I wonder how much support there really is in the union for it given that only the yes vote was on 80% of 30% of the membership so (guess about 20% of the total membership).

Now either a lot of psac members thought there would be enough yes votes to trigger the strike, the majority didn't care or what happened.

Also wonder how many of the same members on Ontario currently out strike but voted yes also complain about the tories winning the last provincial election with only 42% of voters turning out province wide.
