In my mind, it comes down to two.

Let me first say that "reality TV" stars are not included. Reality TV is bullshit that's ruining America.

I'm only talking about quality scripted television, from the good ol' USA.

And I'm not talking about tree-hugging Druids who wear rainbow suspenders and dance in the forest to promote world peace.

Sure there are many men who do great things on TV, to both entertain and inspire. But what the Hell...it's my thread and I'm doing it my way.

You tell me, who is the Manliest Man on TV? There are good arguments for both.

Candidate Number One:Ron Swanson, Parks and Recreation.

Ron is a real Man's Man. Essentially Blue Collar, suspicious of the government (for which he works). He has a soft spot for powerful women, and a workshop that's "Up to the Swanson Code." He also has facial hair that normal men only dream about. He gives bombs to children, and seriously Mans Up when shot by a moron.

And of course, underneath it all, he has a heart of gold.

Candidate Number Two: Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock

He is also a Man's Man, but cut from a different cloth. He is cultured, wise to the ways of the world. He is Sophisicated, and Well-Educated. As most of you know, he went both ways at Princeton. He is a microwave genius, and a patriotic American.

And of course, underneath it all, he has a heart of gold.

So you tell me. Who is the ultimate Manly Man? Both have such great qualities, and so much to recommend them.

It's a very close call.....

Who and Huh?

Mike Holmes is the manliest man on TV. And he probably has permits and warranties for being manly, as well.

Did either of you read the original post?

Canadians and "Reality TV" douchebags need not apply!

:scream:

You can add Tom Selleck's police commissioner on Blue Bloods, then. He's certainly more manly than those two. He shoots people and never flinches. He also has the ultimate 'stache.

I've never watched that show, but Tom Selleck is already in the Manly Man Hall of Fame. I'll grant you that.

But that's not what this thread is about!

The guys from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, then? That's the only non-Canadian and
non-baseball
show I watch. :p

Ultimately I had to go with Jack Donaghy.

He's got the money to back it up.

Bullshit. Obviously it's Ron. Fucking. Swanson.

All Jack's got is paper. Ron has enough gold and silver stashed away to meet his needs. Most of his needs are met through bartering and signed for with a hand shake.

I had to go with Ron fucking Swanson.

I can't fault that choice.

You see my dilemma? They're both incredibly manly.

Good points. Tammy only took the fake gold.

I feel like Ron Swanson wants to be a manly man while Jack couldn't care either way. I have to give it to Ron because of that.

I don't watch 30 Rock or Parks & Recreation, but I gotta give the vote to Alec Baldwin's character, just 'cause he had the best entrance ever in the pilot episode, which is the only full episode of 30 Rock I've seen.

The correct answer is, of course, Raylan Givens. But of the two Pillsbury Doughboys you unaccountably listed in this silly poll, I'll go with jack.

I'd go with Lennie Briscoe from Law and Order... Jerry Orbach, may he rest in peace. The character wasn't perfect, but he was a man pure and simple.

Followed by Munch from SVU, his sense of humor makes me laugh and that in essence is part of what makes a man.

And followed by Gibbs from NCIS. The fact that he stands by his 'real' family and his 'work' family is proof of that :).

And a tie between Elliot from SVU, who takes care of his family and cares about those he works with and is friends with; and Goren from CI, who despite his own issues, cares about his friends and family.
