as long as he is a compitent,compelling villan and doesn't speak broken english, i don't think he will be a racist charater





and where's the love for Sandra Oh in this thread?

Oh, wait, is it racist for me to say any Asian is ugly?

Is it also racist to act like all Asian women are hot because of yellow fever and/or the Oriental mystic exotic pedestal bestowed upon them?

well since "the mandarin" will have to be a match for ironman, they will probably make his alter ego a match for tony too, i.e. wealthy, charismatic, maybe political figure.

it might be a good time to bring in this enemy as it was a good time to bring in middle-eastern enemies in the first movie at the time. now that china is... coming to the forefront of a lot of news topics, it's logical that they'd try to capitalize on that. how they will transform the mandarin into something more relevant and current still remains to be seen. he's already admitted that it's going to be tough to do so.

hey, if people don't like "the mandarin" maybe they can just turn him into "the schezuan" people always like spicy things. :D love that stuff.

Jon Favreau, if successful, will have the first opportunity to show an Asian villain in Hollywood history who isn't some backwards racial stereotype, but a villain that can be taken seriously by the moviegoing audience like Auric Goldfinger from Goldfinger. Gordon Gekko from Wall Street, and The Joker from The Dark Knight.

If not, people will be going "Man, not this shit again..." :rolleyes:

Next, he'll be complaining about how offended he is by the career Al Leong's carved out for himself and demand we all boycott anything that Al Leong is in. :lol:

I've also talked to Favreau about the name Iron Man being offensive to people who have Iron Deficiency Anemia. So that's being worked on right now.

The Mandarin I maybe able to tolerate. That white-haired character hopefully is not another sad excuse for an Asian caricature. But, please for the love of decent media creations out there, keep that sad excuse for a Godzilla rip-off "Fin Fang Fuck Foom" out of the next film. Please! :klingon:
