The second season premieres in an hour and a half. Will it live up to the promise of the first season?

This is the way.

I’ve been trying to watch it for the last half hour on my tv app and it’s says it’s unavailable. But it works on my iPhone app. I tried to cast it to my tv and it just freezes up. I’ll just have to use the phone app.

It came up right on schedule for me.

A good stand-alone episode. The appearance of Cobb Vanth from the Aftermath novels was unexpected. Is it just me or did his backstory differ from the books? It was very cool to finally see a Krayt dragon after all these years. And it would seem that Skippy got his motivator repaired. Nice continuity touch to see the Sand People riding single file. I actually didn't think they were going to bring Boba Fett into the story as I was sure that Temuera Morrison was going to be playing Rex, but his appearance at the very end makes me think that he's playing Boba after all. Who knows, maybe they can actually turn Boba Fett into an interesting character. And who's to say we wouldn't be seeing Rex anyway? It's not as if they would have to hire a different actor.

Whatever the problem was it’s fixed. Good episode. It was basically a townsfolk/Native Americans team up to fight an outside threat plot. Very nice action scenes and the Krayt dragon was pretty scary.

I had to start it on my phone then go to the app on the PC and continue.....as I couldn't get it to start on the PC.........Good not great episode, but loved Cobb and seeing Boba at the end was nice foreshadowing. Looking forward to the next 2 months of this!

Pretty solid opening that gets us back into the swing of things. Impressive visuals. Nice touch with The Marshall's bike (modified pod racer). Temuera at the end was great.

Welcome to 2020, Baby Yoda.

Looks like Tattooine has a Graboid problem. Send in Burt. :)
Are we getting just this page or is each episode getting a separate one?

I think this episode was good and the world building was interesting. However, the very basic plots still bug me and the whole thing feels like fan service on steroids. (Especially bringing Boba Fett back).

Yeah, it's called opening with a bang!
Honestly though, while there's no shortage of fan service here it's entirely justified fan service and there's just as much catering to new fans who may have only seen the first season and literally nothing else of Star Wars. A solid and ambitions season premier.

Rough notes in no particular order:-

Many Bantha's died to bring us this episode...

I had heard Cobb Vanth was a possibility, though part of me is still kind of surprised they went with such a relatively obscure and recent pull...which kinda knocks the "it's all just nostalgia fan service" idea out of the water. Indeed this episode alone drew from just about every corner of the franchise it possibly could in terms of references. OT, PT, books, hell even KotOR!

Kind of surprised with the design choices for the krayt. Has any other depiction gone this big or with the limbless, sand and rock burrowing thing? Not that I mind, I mean if anything it's a massive improvement over the "fat gekko" design they've gone with in the past. The acid spitting thing seems new too...

Sideways sarlacc pit? OK, I guess...but seems a bit weird, no? I mean don't' pits go down by sheer definition?

OK, so was Boba's jetpack defective or something? Because that's twice someone smacking it has sent the thing rocketing off!

I don't know why, but seeing the sand people ride single file made me happy...

Kinda surprised they there was several mentions of the fall of the Empire, but none of what happened to Jabba that same week! You'd think that would have been the real cause of the power vacuum outside the major cities.

My Aurebesh is rusty, but I'm fairly sure the news holo for the Death Star II blowing up was just a direct quote from RotJ's opening crawl!

It's been a while since I read Aftermath but I yeah, I vaguely remember him having to shoot someone for the armor. It's either a retcon or a case of unreliable narrator. Probably the latter.

As for cameo; I wouldn't be surprised if that this is all we'll see of Boba this season. It could even have been a case of "Hey Temuera, since you're here do you mind if we whip off the false santa beard for a minute, stick you in some robes and have you turn towards camera?"

Side note: I think it's safe to assume it was indeed Boba that came for Fennec Shand last season. As if the beeping and spurs weren't clues enough. Also I noticed they used her dialogue in the "previously..." clips and Ming Na has been doing some publicity work with Lucasfilm recently, so I think it's safe to say she'll be back at some point.

Very enjoyable first episode. I'm glad its back, one of my favorite TV shows. I'm continually impressed by the scheer cinematic feel each episode brings. I thought I was watching a movie at times. The VFX is insanely impressive on a TV show budget. Fan service? Perhaps, but this fan is very happy with what they bring to screen. Easy 8.5/10

I swear I saw R5 in a Season 1 BTS thing (might have been that making of mini-series). Maybe they built him for Season 1 but didn't get to use him until now. (maybe he's in the background somewhere in S1?)

I'm guessing they went with the sand snake design because of how the skeleton looked in ANH. There were no visible leg bones.

.

Aftercrap was a steaming turd of a book and I would be happy to see the entire thing retconned.
