The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

No. This one is below Solo. Now, understand, I really like Solo. Mandalorian and Grogu is definitely a solid 6th after the OT, Rogue One, and Solo.

This would have been a bigger box office success if it was a Boba Fett movie. Even bigger if this was a Fett movie and we necer had Book of Boba Fett.

But it's a good, enjoyable movie.
No. I have never wanted or desired a Boba Fett movie. I have far more of an investment in Din than I ever did in Boba.

That, too. As a Star Wars fan, I was soooo tired everyone in the comminity clamoring for a film for years but I never got the appeal. Hell, it took me a long time to get into The Mandalorian and I was largely indiffeent to it until sometime in the second season.

Hardly. I think you grossly overestimate the popularity of Boba Fett. Yes, he has the "cool factor" prestige but that's largely among Star Wars fans only. Plus, the height of his popularity was decades ago.

If he had gotten a solo film on the heels of the original trilogy, then perhaps the film would've been a greater relative success at the box office.

But now? The vast majority general public know Grogu far better than Boba Fett. His name wouldn't have moved the needle.
I agree, and I was a huge Boba Fett fan back in the day. Today , however, Mandalorian has given me that bounty hunter series I always wanted and the Book of Boba Fett took the character in a direction that I didn't like. Boba Fett is suppose to be a cool bad guy bounty hunter, not a good guy crime lord.

Under the premise that he survived the Sarlacc, the "redemption" ( for lack of a better word ) of Fett as a character has always seemed somewhat inevitable to me. I think something like that eventually happened in the Expanded Universe, though I had stopped reading the post-ROTJ books by that point. But yes, "benevolent crime lord" was a terrible idea.

For the longest time I wondered who the hell this "Boba Fett" was when people talked about him. He was never named in the original trilogy. I don't think I got interested in the character until The Mandalorian, which was really what a Boba Fett series could have been... Then when he showed up in season 2 you would have thought I had known all about him from the very beginning based on my reaction. I didn't care much for the direction they took him with 'The Book of Boba Fett' but they couldn't just do The Mandalorian again with the character.

is this an imaginary version of ROTJ
This is what I heard because of all the action, music, sound effects, I could not clearly make out the name "Boba Fett" and it sounds like Han is mumbling. Watch the scene without knowing the character's name and it makes no sense and Han is just mumbling something.

Doesn't sound anything like Bounty Hunter, he very clearly says Boba Fett.
I've known his name since the first time I ever watched ROTJ.

he very clearly says Boba Fett

Clearly my bum.

Have you ever met someone from a non English speaking country and they introduced themselves to you and you didn't catch the name the first time around because you never heard that name before?

Same. It was only after Season 2 that I liked Din and Boba Fett. Book of Boba Fett definitely grew on me past the walking arsenal bull of the books and video games.

He clearly says "Boba Fett", twice. Plus, if you were a kid back then you knew his name because it was a very popular action figure after TESB came out.
