The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

If its not important to you then there is nothing that can be said that will change your mind. But its certainly a topic worthy of discussion in any thread having to do with a Star Wars film. Disney hasn't exactly set the world on fire with their ownership of the Star Wars brand. This is the first one to hit the big screens in seven years. There is a reason for that. If the film tanks then it's doubtful that there will be more coming in the near future. Thats very important to people who are actually fans of the franchise and the reason behind Gaiths comments
And that's humiliation? That's the word used, not that they might not make more films, or reduced output.

If that was the comment, I'd be all on board and might even agree. It's not a matter of "actually being fans". People going to stop being fans because content stops being produced? :wtf:

This is what I'm saying that makes no sense is that somehow Disney is humiliated if it underperforms.

Um....no.

People who are fans care about these things because they want to see more films. If this film underperforms there will likely be no more in the foreseeable future. It isnt any more complicated than that. Pop into any thread on this site for Marvel, DC, etc. and similar discussions happen. Its what fans do

Geez. It was a figure of speech. No one knows if a company is humiliated. But it will certainly be bad if it underperforms which early projections show seems to be likely.

I love these new definitions of fans that feel extremely exclusionary. Nice to know I'm not a fan.

Words have meaning. Defining the terms seems a reasonable thing to do in a discourse.

It's a bit ironic that The Mandalorian pioneered the LCD-screen "Volume" approach to production, yet now the movie is primarily using physical sets. Though it's good, of course, and understandable now that they have the time and resources to do it.

It's cool that the New Republic base is actually a Quonset hut dating back to Howard Hughes. Meanwhile, I'm a little surprised that I recognized the TIE fighter top hatch cover more readily than Adam Savage did, since I only know the shape so well from having built a TIE fighter model kit when I was a kid decades ago. But then, Adam has no doubt worked with so many more Star Wars models than I have that he has a much bigger mental index to sort through.

Just like how Kathleen Kennedy was fired for her sins! How many times over? I lost track!
I'm amazed they kept letting her make decisions about movies and series, and had her at all cons and doing interviews and other promotional stuff even though we all know she was fired after The Force Awakens came out, and again after The Last Jedi came out, and then again after The Rise of Skywalker came. Wasn't she also fired after Skeleton Crew and The Mandalorian Season 3?

I'm a fan, and I honestly don't really care if we get more films or not, as long as they keep doing streaming series, books, comics, and games I'm fine with that. Hell, even if it was just books, comics, and games.
