The making of a comic maxiseries

Joe Washington

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Preacher. Y: The Last Man. Sandman. Transmepolitian. All epics in their own rights.

What do you think it takes to craft stories like these? To sustain a story that goes beyond the limit of a single-issue or a simple mini-series?

The same thing that even great single issues have...compelling and complex characters in interesting situations (or worlds.)

There doesn't need to be an exact plan in place. It helps, but all that I consider essential is that the creator has an ending in mind or can recognize what a great ending would be when it comes to that point.

Brian Vaughan had the first three years of Y: The Last Man mapped out in detail but the rest of it were broad strokes.
