The Lost Finale Survivors Poll

Mr Light

Admiral
Admiral
We have four characters now who *appeared* to die but did not die on-screen. Claire suffered a head wound, drew the interest of the ghostbuster, then appeared in Jacob's Cabin and then as a vision to Off-Island Kate. Jin and Michael were last seen on the Kahana moments before it went boom (but then Christian/Jacob appeared to Michael at the last second). Locke appeared dead in a coffin. But they have to take him back to the miracle Island.

I think Jin and Michael are absolutely alive. This will make a tear-jerking scene when Sun finally returns to the Island, thinking her husband is dead, only to find he's alive. Michael is alive because a) Christian appeared at the last second to miraculously save them all, and b) why the hell would you bring back the actor and only have him appear sporadically in the back half of the season just to kill him off again?

Now I've long been a proponent of Claire being alive, but her Jacob-esque visionary appearance to Future Kate pretty much seals it. I'd say its 75% probable she's dead.

Locke DID die in the future. But I think he'll either be ressurected by returning to the Island, or more probably become the new ghost-leader like Jacob so the actor will still be around but the character will be a ghost.

Goddamnit, I forgot to click the poll button. Is there a way to add a poll after the fact? Sigh. I wanted to do a poll. I've seen people do polls after the fact before, is that a moderator only thing or something?

Alive / Probably Alive / Probably Dead / Dead
and for Locke the super special extra option of Ghost Leader

Walt appeared to what's-her-name and he was still alive.

I don't think Claire is dead.

Michael is 100% dead. Christian said that "You can go now." He tried to commit suicide before, only the island didn't let him. Now it let him die.

What did Michael do between his last suicide attempt and his apparent death last night? He sabotaged the engines then fixed them, and froze the bomb battery...anything else important? It just doesn't feel like he's done nearly enough to "redeem" himself, although maybe that's not what this is about and Christian just needed him for some other task. Also, I hope that if in S5 or S6 they bring back a previous regular character to the main cast, they work out the contracts so that the actor's name isn't in the credits for 7 weeks so everyone knows who's going to show up.

As I've said before, I think Jin, Michael, and Claire are all still alive and with Jacob for his own reasons. Locke is dead but will return to life when brought back to the Island.

Mr. Light, no you can't add a poll now, unfortunately. vBulletin is wonderful on many levels, but when it comes to polls, it sucks.

I'm inclined to agree with you on Jin, Michael and Claire. We've already seen Claire with Christian so that's a good sign. After Walt's conversation with Hurley, it seems clear that there needs to be a little more closure with he and his father, so there's Michael. As for Jin. Come ON! You can't kill Jin! He has yet to even see his daughter or kick his father-in-law in the teeth. I'm not convinced he's dead yet. Especially since they didn't show it.

If Locke can fall 8 floors on his back, then suddenly walk again, or get shot in the chest and fall into an open grave and then be okay a few hours later, Jin can survive a little explosion and some sea water.

I think it's quite possible that Jin made it off the freighter alive. I don't think Claire is dead. Michael is 100% dead. Harold Perrineau confirms that in an interview with TV Guide.

Michael: dead, dead, dead.

Claire: alive - in some form.

Jin: I see a tearjerking reunion in his future.

Locke: dead until the series finale, then resurrected.

Claire has to be alive. Charlie sacrificed himself so that Desmond's vision of getting on a helicopter would happen, and she hasn't gotten on any helicopter yet.

Damn.

Boy, he's not happy. He also thinks it was a waste and disappointed that Walt became another fatherless child.

Cmon, it's been obvious for a long time that Michael was headed for that end. I'm sorry that Perrineau isn't happy (and I hope to see him in another show) but when a TV character murders innocents, their only redemption is to die heroically. They did the same thing with Damar on DS9. Lost is an unusual show in many ways, but even they adhere to the hoary old cliches of TV writing.

And in this particular case, I thank god for that. Michael can burn in the fires of hell for all eternity for all I care. He is by far one of my least favorite characters in Lost ever. The only exceptions I can think of were buried alive for all time. :techman:

I'm not sure about Jin or Claire. That was a pretty big 'splosion on the freighter. I don't know that anyone could survive that. I'd like to see Jin alive, buuuut I'm not counting on it. I can see reasons for Claire to be either alive or dead, but once again, there was a 'splosion and all Claire came out with was a bump on her head? Yeah, I've gots me a problem with that. At the same time, this was right after we found out that the island kept Michael alive in order to do whatever he did.

Speaking of Michael -- yeah, he's dead as a doornail. Good riddance too. Honestly, I really don't feel he brought much to the story as a whole and his return was overly hyped for no reason. I don't think he did anything to redeem himself because honestly, he didn't save too many people and if the island can save people if they have work to do then the Oceanic Six would have survived anyway. Pointless return. Glad he's gone. Had he sacrificed himself to save the ship and everyone on it, well, that might have made more sense. But then we wouldn't have had the awesome Des/Penny reunion.

Wow. Wow-wow-wow.

They bring back Michael, give him one episode, a few cameos, then kill him?

And the things Perrineau was saying about the show hating black people. Wow.

I can't believe that was really the death of Michael. What a waste of a character. And I agree it's shameful that Walt gets orphaned like that.

VAGUE CASTING SPOILER:
.
.
.
BTW I read a report that one original female cast member is going to be off the show for S5 and then return full time for S6. I'd say it has to be Claire. Which does suggest she's dead I guess :p And will return as a Force Ghost.
.
.
.

That doesn't prove that Claire is dead (although I suspect you're right that Emile de Ravin is the one who will be gone next season). She could easily still be alive but simply not seen by the main character for a long time.
