drychlick

Captain
Captain
are you mad as hell as me about the lockerble bomber being let go? the man KILL 270 people and they let him go becase he has cancer! this not right! i think they made a deal for oil! what you think? love don

to be quite honest it's nothing to do with his health it is the oil.
it sends out the wrong message, instead of dont attack us or you will be sorry, it seems to be dont attack us or we'll give you a slap on the wrists and send you home

Why was the guy in Scotland and not in the US? IIRC, more Americans died than Scots/Brits...

He committed the crime on Scottish soil and was thus subject to Scottish law.

Also, I am not sure if it applies here, but Britain generally has a problem with extraditing people to countries where they may be executed.

They don't have a problem. They don't do it unless there is a written agreement that the subject will not be killed.

Which he most likely would be because his crimes would almost certainly carry the death penalty in the US.

it's lockerbie.

and please learn to write complete coherent sentences.

and the crime wasn't on Scottish soil, so much as Scottish airspace...

i don't really have a problem with letting him go, he was convicted on pretty flimsy evidence as it was. it was prolly the Iranians...

I like the Syrians for it myself or someone backed by them (ditto for the Berlin nightclub bombing which Reagan also laid at Ghaddaffi's feet). The Libyans were a good scapegoat; the US couldn't really go after Syria being they were Soviet clients at the time without starting a bigger conflict.

Of course if this gets properly investigated and it's proven Libya wasn't responsible, then I'd think the USA would be on the hook for loads of reparations for needlessly bombing the crap out of them. Really the only thing tying this fellow to the attacks are shreds of clothing -- of course well all know CSI is real, though!
