I completely forgot that the last season and a half was just online, not on TV.
Yeah there are 4 full seasons in the set just if you watched via Nikelodeon they cut off the whole of the last season and half of season 3. The set is still out there, not sure of overseas prices I am in Australia.
OK edited here: More thoughts
The Legend Of Korra
Some more of my thoughts.
OK I went into this right off the bat without seeing the previous series so it was just this series I am basing all my thoughts on so if anything I say sounds wrong it's just based off what I have seen so far and my own personal opinions / thoughts.
First off I have finished the first 3 seasons and the final one begins tonight. So far I really, really have enjoyed the run. Season 1 to me felt the best so far and it had a good story that ran the whole way through with Amon and the Equalists. That was a cool story and nice payoff with the ending of that. Didn't catch on till the end that Amon himself was some kind of bender. I mean well he had to be with the way he could take away people's powers but at first it didn't really click. I had first thought there was some other kind of explanation, or that he had outside help from Asami's father somehow from his company.
It's an interesting world they have created, not quite Earth though the planet they are on is called Earth. They seem to have a lot of things we would be familiar with like cities, paved roads, and even cars. I love the car Asami drives, that's a cool car. They even have jeeps that look more or less like jeeps in our world so it's not that far off. They have giant airships, and I wish we had giant airships like that today of a similar size. Airships are very cool. But yes the world they created is fantastic and they haven't really gone too far over the top with that setting, and it fits in with the story they are trying to tell.
Season 2 was good too with the theme of spirits, though they amped up the threat from season 1 to world ending, which seems to be the thing a lot of TV shows do to keep people watching. I mean I get it you have to write a weekly show that keeps people hooked so you have to have some kind of ongoing story but really must everything be world ending or fantastically over the top evil that means some huge fight in the last 2 episodes to resolve the problem that started in episode 1? Every genre show seems to do it but I guess that's why we keep watching.
However having said that I liked season 2 as well but maybe not as much as the first season, that one for me will be the best. Moving onto season 3 well that was a change of pace and it seemed less stressful then the previous two seasons, but still there was a larger threat which was revealed later in the season with the bald guy wanting to destroy Korra and destroy any kind of government, and very nearly did destroy Korra, but as our plucky lead character I knew somehow she would survive I cannot lie I liked all 3 seasons and what did that for me was the writing and dialog. Loved all the banter between characters and stuff that happens in the background that isn't connected to the main story.
As for favourite characters I'm not going with Korra. I liked the three kids, Suyin Beifong and her sister Lin Beifong, Asami, and Bolin. I also liked Varrick who for some reason I can't fathom kept making me think of Ian Malcolm played by Jeff Goldlum, and his sidekick Zhu Li. I also liked Kya, and Jinora, though I wish she had been older because as a kid it just doesn't work for me that she is as smart as she is, that just doesn't work for me when watching the show.
So far this show is a solid 8/10 for me. I like the thought of people being able to bend elements to their will so does this make people in this world elementals of some kind, though some of the explanations you get in the show don't really help make sense of that, but I like that there are different kinds of benders, and there is this whole eastern mysticism mixed into the story to explain everything.
