The Least Disliked Reused Title Episode/Movie

I love that the Star Trek franchise is so vast they can't stop themselves from re-using titles (just adding or deleting a "the" is not enough to make it different, gang!) I also love any parameters that pit a bunch of very different episodes against each other just to see what happens, and so... what is the least disliked episode/movie to share a title with another episode?

Plus, with "The Emissary" winning the last one, I was wondering if it might repeat...

THE RULES. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. Below is a list of episodes from TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and DIS. Eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed.

WAIT THREE HOURS and leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE RULE CHANGE: Just shortened the time interval slightly for this round. Tinkering around with what works best for gameflow.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.

Much thanks to @Farscape One for vetting this list with me -- it was easier than usual this time.

Enjoy! And I'm so curious to see if we have any title confusion in the eliminations themselves, or if everyone correctly ID's their targets... :bolian:

VOY "Muse" is the only episode on this list I don't even remember or know anything about. So, by default, it's out.

Discovery's "What's Past Is Prologue" is such a deflating end to the otherwise awesome MU arc.

TOS, Season 1: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
TNG, Season 1: "Where No One Has Gone Before"
TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor"

THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER is gone. Not a great Animated Series episode.

TOS, Season 1: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
TNG, Season 1: "Where No One Has Gone Before"
TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor"
TNG, Season 3: "The Survivors"
TNG, Season 7: "Eye Of The Beholder"

TNG, Season 4: "First Contact"
TNG Feature: "Star Trek: First Contact"
DS9, Season 1: "Past Prologue"
DS9, Season 4: "The Muse"

The Muse is weird and creepy. It’s the clear low point of a really strong season. It goes.

TOS, Season 1: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
TNG, Season 1: "Where No One Has Gone Before"
TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor"
TNG, Season 3: "The Survivors"
TNG, Season 7: "Eye Of The Beholder"

DS9, Season 1: "Emissary"
TNG, Season 4: "First Contact"
TNG Feature: "Star Trek: First Contact"
DS9, Season 1: "Past Prologue"

(Also, no room for TOS: “Journey to Babel”, DS9: “Babel”, ENT: “Babel One”?)

TNG, Season 1: "Where No One Has Gone Before" was definitely not my cup of tea. Was it the weird alien with big hands in his pajamas that looked at Wesley like a perv? Well, probably.

TOS, Season 1: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor"
TNG, Season 3: "The Survivors"
TNG, Season 7: "Eye Of The Beholder"

DS9, Season 1: "Emissary"

I'd see those more in the realm of "The Naked Now/Time", or "Profit & Loss" and "Profit & Lace" -- distinct titles that are chosen deliberately for the purpose of linking to each other.

TNG's "Eye Of The Beholder" goes. Worf's interest in Troi being sparked by a visit to a parallel universe was much more effective than Troi having her interest in Worf sparked via weird death hallucinations.

TOS, Season 1: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor"
TNG, Season 3: "The Survivors"
TNG, Season 2: "The Emissary"
DS9, Season 1: "Emissary"
TNG, Season 4: "First Contact"
TNG Feature: "Star Trek: First Contact"
DS9, Season 1: "Past Prologue"

"First Contact" is a pretty good episode, but IMO not in the league of these others.

TOS, Season 1: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor"
TNG, Season 3: "The Survivors"
TNG, Season 2: "The Emissary"
DS9, Season 1: "Emissary"
TNG Feature: "Star Trek: First Contact"
DS9, Season 1: "Past Prologue"

TAS, Season 1: "The Survivor", because of the "billionaire philanthropist" in an economy supposedly without money. I don't like when people keep contradicting themselves. Plus it's just a cartoon, it hardly compares with an episode of another series unless the latter is really bad.

There was no contradiction at the time. There were zero references to no money in TOS, and plenty of references to credits and other implications of an economy.

In "Catspaw" Kirk says that rubies, diamonds and the likes mean nothing to them. So that means that there aren't many things of value, to begin with. Things that can be replicated obviously are so cheap that anyone can have them.

They didn't have replicators per se yet either. Food synthesizers, fabricators...earlier tech, but presumably you had to put appropriate materials in to get something out. Which is how the replicators are supposed to work as well, they're just more all-purpose.

I'll eliminate The Emissary. I love the Worf and K'Ehleyr pairing, and it's a fun story. I like the others more though.

I confess I get "Wink of an Eye" (TOS) and "Blink of an Eye" (VOY) mixed up sometimes. Does that count?

"

As opposed to Flint, who bought an entire planet? Or the miners hoping to strike it rich in "Devil in The Dark" or "Mudd's Women?" Or all the various merchants, traders, mail-order brides, and con artists we saw on TOS?

The whole "no-money" business is more of a TNG thing and never really applied to the Final Frontier of the 23rd century, where things were much more rough and tumble. "You've earned your paycheck this week, Scotty."

And I'll now eliminate "The Survivors." It's a decent episode, but it's the only one here I have no special affinity for. I have an emotional attachment to the pilots, First Contact is the great TNG movie, Past Prologue introduces Garak... "The Survivors" is odd man out.
