The least disliked episode of VOY - Season One

This is a game that was played here a couple of years ago, and it proved to be a lot of fun, spanning across each Trek series, as well as a great way to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Has to be "Parallax", <insert technobabble solution> unfortunalt VOY tended to go heavy on the technobabble. (Titbit of useless info. "Projections", "Elogium" and "Twisted" and "The 37's"were releas as part of S1 in the UK in the original VHS release).

Cathexis - Chakotay brain-dead, rocks on a medicine wheel? Native American stereotypes come early, come often. Also, lots of technobabble.

It's time for "Caretaker" you would think a race that has mastered interstellar travel, would be able to master the process of creating water by combing Hydrogen and Oxygen.

Edited to reflect MacLeod's elimination of Caretaker during cross-post.

I can't remember if this is a well-liked episode, but I'm knocking off Jetrel. For one thing, it's a retread of DS9's Duet, which was only 2 years prior. Plus, Neelix is no Kira. Kira's role in Duet was a payoff for an entire season's worth of character development and history.

Neelix also has a damaged background (though we didn't know at the time), but his character is the Jar Jar of Star Trek. It's hard to sympathize with an annoying character. We get almost no background of Neelix and his planet throughout the season, and then we get this massive infodump in this episode, and we are expected to sympathize. It all feels really shallow, especially next to Duet.

They even made it the penultimate episode of the first season just like Duet. They try to duplicate DS9, but have no idea how to duplicate the effectiveness.

Prime Factors
State of Flux

Faces

"The Cloud" in an attempt to get her caffine fix, Janeway ends up placing the ship crew in a worse situtation than they were. She should really see the EMH about her addiction.

Time and Again
Phage
Eye of the Needle
Emanations
Prime Factors
State of Flux
Heroes and Demons
Faces

The Voyager edition of this should yield to far easier decisions than the DS9 version. The bad episode : good episode ratio is so much higher.

I eliminate Faces. That was a cheap, lazy way to explore B'elana's Klingon roots that attributed her entire personality to her DNA. And it was gross.

Time and Again
Phage
Eye of the Needle
Emanations
Prime Factors
State of Flux
Heroes and Demons

Time and Again... you gotta do a cliche time travel episode on the freaking THIRD episode? Not to mention those shirts were ugly and that kid was annoying. Kids and Star Trek just don't mix.

Phage
Eye of the Needle
Emanations
Prime Factors
State of Flux
Heroes and Demons

It's time for "State of Flux" to go. It might have been better if they had started to work in the possibility of a traitor onbaord in earlier episodes before springing it on us. And it would eventually lead to the loss of the Character of Seska.

Phage
Eye of the Needle
Emanations
Prime Factors
Heroes and Demons

Emanations: too very special episode, and Harry is too goofy in this one.

*sharpens knives*

I'm getting rid of Heroes and Demons. VOY was already overusing the holodeck in the first season. The Alien of the Week was very lame.

Phage
Eye of the Needle
Prime Factors

I'm afraid it has to be "Prime Factors" but whilst it was intersting to see Starfleet getting the PD or an aliens version of it used against them. The remaing two are superior episodes one way or the other

Phage
Eye of the Needle

*comes into this topic ready to vote for another episode, sees that it is already over with*
