The least disliked episode of TOS - Season Three

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every few years or so, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

With a fist pump, I banish And the Children Shall Lead. Far away, for to see, friendly angel... begone! An embarrassing episode. Melvin Belli should have been disbarred for that performance.

Spock's Brain
The Enterprise Incident
The Paradise Syndrome
Is There in Truth No Beauty?
Spectre of the Gun
Day of the Dove
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky

The Lights of Zetar
Requiem for Methuselah
The Way to Eden
The Cloud Minders
The Savage Curtain
All Our Yesterdays
Turnabout Intruder

The Mark of Gideon is Gide-gone, for it's completely ridiculous premise.

Spock's Brain
The Enterprise Incident
The Paradise Syndrome

Spectre of the Gun
Day of the Dove
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky

The Lights of Zetar
Requiem for Methuselah
The Way to Eden
The Cloud Minders
The Savage Curtain
All Our Yesterdays
Turnabout Intruder

I'll pull Turnabout Intruder. I actually liked seeing a lot of the Enterprise, the actors who played Arthur (very touching) and Janice were good, and I thought Shatner was excellent, but it was just the wrong final episode. Also unclear what Janice's goals were. I do feel bad about this one.

I find The Savage Curtain more cringeworthy than most. The idea of Good vs. Evil seems very forced in it. It felt like just an excuse to have someone dressed up Abraham Lincoln on screen. I do feel bad about this, as it is the episode that introduces us the both Surak and Kahless, but still, I have to say... begone.

That Which Survives
The Lights of Zetar
Requiem for Methuselah
The Way to Eden
The Cloud Minders
All Our Yesterdays

Call me a Herbert if you like, but I'm getting rid of The Way to Eden. Not only is it utterly ridiculous in its own right, it's all the worse for essentially being the shambling, re-animated corpse of what could have been a classic D.C. Fontana story.

Spock's Brain has been removed by yours truly.
"Brain and brain! What is brain?" - It wasn't originally dialogue, but an honest question posed by everyone responsible for it.

Doh!

Because “we’re fighting over a woman” :) Seriously though, the idea that Kirk would get that depressed over the babe of the week and not over Edith Keeler, doesn’t sit right with me. This was TOS at it’s cheesiest.

And an android at that! This was decades before TNG established that androids are people too.

Plato's Stepchildren is next to go from me. Aside from that kiss, it's a silly outing with a fairly trite "absolute power corrupts absolutely" message.

Not to mention the fact that the absolute power was fought off with the good guys giving themselves TWICE the power!

"For the World Is Hollow..." removed. Maudlin plot, and McCoy's romance is completely unbelievable. Also, the title was taking up two lines in the list.

Wink of an Eye has to go. I think the concept was a good sci- fi idea, but so poorly executed I have to give up watching it part way through on all recent attempts. I end up tutting, eyerolling and being bored all at the same time. Voyager used a similar concept with a much better story.

Bye, bye Paradise Syndrome. It had some interesting scenes, but Big Chief Kurok just hammed it up too much.

"Whom Gods Destroy" is history!! I can't stand the story, acting, premise . . . is that enough? If not I could go into the whole recent fanfilm debacle, lol

The Enterprise Incident
Is There In Truth No Beauty?
Day of the Dove
The Tholian Web
Elaan of Troyius
That Which Survives
