The least disliked episode of TNG - Season Four

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every couple of years, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, please leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

So we've caught up to the season I'm on now on the big pre-Picard show rewatch. ;)

What to go for first? Suddenly Human has some good intentions but it's far too by the numbers to have any real impact.

This is an insanely strong season. I'll take The Host out because the romance plot doesn't really come off, and Beverley pursuing a romance with the Trill while he's joined with Riker is pretty unfair on Riker, to say the least.

Ill put the Wounded out of its misery. Its not a bad episode by any means but it could have been more of a powerhouse and thus, its a disappointment. It could have had the same intensity as The Defector but it feels too low key and by the numbers.

Devil's Due. Not the complete and utter butchery of a potential Phase II classic like "The Child" was, but they could and should have done much more with the concept.

The Loss didn't show Troi in a flattering light, and Marina Sirtis is better elsewhere.

 One of my favorite episodes of TNG.

Qpid can get lost. For me, the humor falls flat.

I posted just before you and got rid of The Loss. :)

The Wounded is one of my favourites as well.

Here's the updated list with Qpid and The Loss off it.

I'll drop Galaxy's Child. Dr Brahm's wasn't exactly flattering in this episode and Geordi kind of comes across as a creepy stalker (in Geordi's defense--we know from the rest of the show he's not really a creepy stalker guy, this is just a case of some bad judgment, but he doesn't come across as exactly flattering either).

This episode is good evidence that 24th century humans will still have the same foibles and flaws as we do. Human beings are led astray by fantasy not reality.

I'll toss "Data's Day." I never rewatch this one. I hate what a toxic relationship the O'Brien's have on TNG, though DS9 rehabs them into Trek's best couple. But ugh. The way the relationship is presented at the beginning, these two should NOT be getting married.

I love the scene where Crusher teaches Data how to tap dance in that one. Then finding out he meant that he needed to dance at the wedding!

Legacy has nice moments when the crew reflect on Tasha, but her sister, Ishara, is dull.

I will be leaving no "Clues." Picard signed off on letting a group of hostile aliens tamper with the minds of his ship's complement -- including the civilians and children -- twice. Good lord, dude. Even setting aside the question of whether letting people's minds be tampered with is ever the right call, for all you know they were going to lobotomize everybody, or make you fly yourselves into a pulsar.

"Remember Me" gets forgotten. It's not that it's a bad episode... it has some good TWILIGHT ZONE shades to it. But it's not as strong as the others left on the list.

I'll take out First Contact. Perfectly decent episode, but did not generate as much gripping drama or suspense as the rest.

I'm getting rid of "Redemption." It is the least of all TNG's cliffhanger finales, I don't like how sidelined the ensemble is here. I do enjoy the absurd 90's-ness of the Sela cliffhanger itself, but it's also absurd how much existing familiarity you need with the show to even make sense of that.
