The least disliked episode of DS9 - Season Two

This is a game that was played here a couple of years ago, and it proved to be a lot of fun, spanning across each Trek series, as well as a great way to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Melora. Felt too much like one of those "very special episodes" that television was always trying to shove in our faces in the 90s.

I'll start by booting Melora because I think it's a very bad episode. As a commentary on disability, it comes across as far too heavy-handed for my liking. Melora herself is also pretty annoying. I'm rarely convinced by Romance!Trek and this one certainly isn't an exception.

Edit: Guess I'm not the only one who dislikes that episode! In that case, I'll remove Second Sight because Sisko was still pretty lacking as a character at this point. He definitely did not need his own Romance!Trek just yet, and a bad one at that.

I've cut Rivals from the list, which was dreadfully boring. I really didn't like the new guy they were trying to set up as Quark's rival, and I'm glad we never saw him again.

Playing God - Dax is really really unpleasant in this episode. She wasn't all that likable yet on the show, so they spend an entire episode making her a hard-ass to a newbie. Nah.

Can I add "Duet" into Season 2?

...okay, okay.

I will eliminate "Sanctuary." I thought the Skrreeans should have been more than happy with the alternate planet that was found for them. Who's to say the alternate planet is not also a world of sorrow?

"Shadowplay", been that long since I've seen it I can't remember it. So it must have been fairly average.

Paradise - Another one of those "technology is evil" episodes. Those colonists are so stupid. Real people would have rebelled against Alixus long ago. She and her dopey son were all it took to keep these people in line?

The episode spends the whole time making Alixus a villain, but at the end, the episode gives her a moral victory because the colonists accept their way of life despite the lies. Bullshit!

Agreed, it was a a flawed premise, the Federation must have hundreds of billions if not getting on for a trillion citizens. In all of those she couldn't find a group that wanted to live without technology.

Crossover

A sucky fanficcy episode that spread its suck to five episodes across five seasons.

Hey Intendant, my 13 year old self's imagination called, even it thinks you're a bit over the top.

Rules of Acquisition - those red-faced aliens sure were goofy-looking. Oh yeah, and it played up the whole Ferengi female thing....eh. How funny that THIS episode is how it all began for the Dominion.

Man, this is going to get really difficult soon.

I'll eliminate "Armageddon Game". By far the worst of the remaining. The premise is ridiculous - Only O'Brien and Bashir are assigned to deal with the WMD problem, as if the Feds wouldn't send a task force and diplomatic teams. Then the ridiculous notion that the T'Lani HAVE to kill them to keep it secret. Keiko is super-annoying and the last scene is dumb. And it seems like every O'Brien-centric episodes revolves around him drinking coffee and it's getting old even at this point in the series.

POST AN UNDATED LIST WHEN YOU REMOVE AN EPISODE!!!!!

Now that I got that out of my system, and I did fix the list, I shall remove The Alternate. While it was nice to see a bit of Odo's past fleshed out, the episode just bores me and the mystery falls flat.

The Circle

Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)

We're down to some pretty solid episodes. I'll remove Invasive Procedures. The fact that the station could be broken into and taken over that easily just bothers me. Also, I think it's a really bad episode for Quark, I don't like to think of him as being responsible for something that bad.

The Homecoming
The Circle
The Siege
Necessary Evil
Profit and Loss
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)

"The Circle" I think it's the weakest part of Trek's first ever three-part episode.

The Homecoming
The Siege
Necessary Evil
Profit and Loss
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
The Collaborator

I'll take out Profit and Loss. It has some elements I like, but it doesn't really stand up to the rest of the top notch episodes left.

The Homecoming
The Siege
Necessary Evil
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
The Collaborator

The Collaborator has been executed. I really didn't like Vedek Bareil.

The Homecoming
The Siege
Necessary Evil
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

Blood Oath is gone. It's actually an episode I really like now, but I'm removing it because Dax's history with the Klingons seemed to come out of nowhere, which made it sort of jarring and weird when it first aired.

The Homecoming
The Siege
Necessary Evil
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
