The least disliked episode 2021 - TNG Season Three

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now able to include Disco's third season as well as the debut years of Picard and Lower Decks. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

The Bonding is out, I never liked this episode. "hey kid, your mom's dead, sorry ..., the replicator's over there and don't forget to tuck yourself in from now on, bye"
That was so stupid, it's a true WTF moment.

The Price is too high to pay if this one didn't get kicked out of bed like my ex, who's very similar but that's a different story...

The Ferengi are used somewhat well... in a story that revolves Troi being hit on by a creepy guy that - surprise, surprise - is screwing over everyone else in the room but not for the same reasons and/or desires. I suppose, for a novel attempt to have steamy passion on board the Enterprise... on Staaaaaaaaaar Trek the Next Generation... no, it's still a cringing plot.

The Survivors must envy the Dead, because they aren't around for this terrible episode. First Troi doesn't go down to the planet to meet the (as far as they knew) traumatised survivors, even though it's exactly her era of expertise, then Troi gets put out of comission by a freaking music box. And then the conclusion has one of the two survivors be some sort nigh-omnipotent energy fart *yet again*
Plus a good chunk of the episode really rests on the assumption that we care how two people we've never seen before met and how their marriage developed over the years...

This is always a difficult season to play, for me - lots of terrific episodes. I'll end Captain's Holiday - not a Vash fan. And the Ferengi are used terribly on TNG.

Apart from showing a new sickbay set that's based loosely on the TARDIS console room, and a character who's second only to TOS's Norman Android (as well as skimping on the costuming budget), there's little about Transfigurations that's anything more than snoozefest filler.

"Menage a Troi" gets a ...quickie... exit. Not a big fan of Lwaxanna or Ferengi erotism... Like she said: "How revolting!"...

I find that The High Ground is a low point, being sympathetic to terrorist bombings.

"Tin Man" is a boring entry in a sea(son) of much more appealing episodes. Tam Elbrun is not an interesting character (or perhaps he's miscast?), and the resolution is predictable.

THe setup for Allegiance is nice but the payoff just doesn't satisfy. And yet another use of the ubiquitous forcefield.

Wow, it's really a difficult season for things to eliminate, because most of the episodes are either good, or at least passable,e specially now that the few obvious stinkers have been eliminated
So well, I'm just gonna eliminate DejaQ. Alright, I don't Q, but even so this episode isn't as good as those featuring him in the later seasons (like Tapestry or True Q), or the one last season (which introduced the Borg) and since I don't care about the character, I also don't care about him trying to keep/regain his omnipotence.
Plus again, I don't find the character funny (except in Lower Decks)

"Who Watchers the Watchers?" because it's a bit heavy-handed. These people have no religion which is unheard of in the entire Earth history. There hasn't been a single people without a religion. The communist tried it but it only made people have religions in clandestinity and after the fall, it came back with a vengeance. So these people had abandoned religion for centuries and yet they're ready to make one up on the spot at the drop of a hat!!! Ridiculous!!
And this guy is ready to kill someone because of some bullshit he's just made up in his head? But then all of a sudden he sees reason and starts talking like a normal person. Enough of this crap already!!!

I mean a group of reasonable people doesn't become a bunch of raving lunatics because of some guy who said that he's been abducted by "the Picard"!!!!

Even Wile E Coyotee stories are more believable than that!!!

Springing "Booby Trap," because it turns out Geordi really has no business complaining about Reg Barclay's inability to distinguish reality from a holo-fantasy. Bit creepy there, Geo.

Sarek got Wesley to throw shade on Geordi. That's a no-no. Unfortunately, that video sharing site doesn't have anyone showing it. Can't imagine why... Now if someone would replace the fists being thrown with pies in the infamous Jerry Springer scene, which is found aplenty and even in deliciously crisp HD:

Is it just me, or did shoulder pads miss out on complementing bellbottoms by about one decade? Or did they try both while high in 1975 and decided everyone looked too much like kites so they did the bellbottoms first, waited out the decade, then padded up the shoulders by 86?

I love doing Q, but don't disagree with U. :techman:

Very strong season. Hard to pick from the remaining.

"The Vengeance Factor" goes. I'd say it's the weakest of what's left.

Removing The Offspring. It's just Measure of a Man redux with the ending borrowed from a TOS episode.

A Matter of Perspective glosses over way too much, of which some of it's rather creepy involving Riker, just to show a non-sitcom take of "everyone tells the truth". A total rewrite may have been needed, since even Troi runs around saying everyone is telling the truth as they know it despite that being impossible and there's no reason, not even the creaky waves treknobabble, that's influencing them... The fact the episode led to internet memes about double facepalms, or the triple facepalm with DS9 Worf photoshopped in, notwithstanding, it's a clunker despite that season 3 style.

Sins of the Father, I just don't care about any of that, Worf's family drama is boring and klingons generally annoying.
