The least disliked episode 2021 - LD Season One

Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now able to include Disco's third season as well as the debut years of Picard and Lower Decks. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

*RULES*

Given the short first season run of Lower Decks (and spoiler rules preventing extensive discussion of the upcoming second season), we'll go straight to final round rules. Give what you consider to be the worst/your least favourite episode ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. If 48 hours without a vote passes, the episode currently leading in points will be eliminated, and a new round will begin. And enjoy!

Far and away Star Trek's best first season! (An achievement I was truly not expecting from this show)

"Temporal Edict" was the weakest link for me. The "flex time" plot seemed mostly about the writers working out their anger over working conditions at past jobs, and didn't feel like a good fit for these characters or world.

I'm also going with Temporal Edict. This episode had one fatal flaw - it actually made Captain Freeman seem incompetent and unfit for command, which makes it much harder to understand within continuity than the remainder of the season, where the command staff are goofy but ultimately have the same batting average as those on other shows.

"Terminal Provocations" Outside of "Temporal Edict", the only other story in LD season 1 that just flat does not work for me is the A story in this one, the Ensign Fletcher arc.

Love the holodeck B story and the Shaxs/ship jeopardy C story.

I don't have much of an opinion about the rest since I've only watched the series once and a few months ago at that. I guess I'll have to rewatch them all before I can decide which ones I disliked the most but by the time I do that I am afraid this vote will be over.

Damn, I love all 7 of these! This show is so good.

I'll go with "Veritas" also, though. On the basis of being the least "special" of these. It's a great episode, but all the others either have more character development or more to do with the overall story of the season.

Still, that isn't even a problem -- I want there to be great stand-alones like "Veritas"! -- but all these episodes are so exceptional I have to find something to pick at.
