The Least Disliked Cardassian Episode

And it's time for "The Dogs Of War" to go. Though I can't find flaw with it's Cardassia-set plot, the B, C, and D stories it's combined with are total dogs and make this an overall bad episode.

"A TIME TO STAND" sits down. A good episode and season premiere, it's not quite as 'Cardassian' as the others on the list.

I'll get rid of Penumbra. It's more of a setup episode for the awesome Final Chapter.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part I"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"

DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "When It Rains..."
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

Sacrifice of Angels for saving the day via deus ex machina, involving the prophets like that felt a bit cheap.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part I"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 4: "Return To Grace"

DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "When It Rains..."
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

DS9 Season 4: "Return To Grace" is more of a Dukat episode and his personal vendetta against Klingons. His relations with his daughter and the most cordial relations with Kira he'll ever get.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part I"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"

DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "When It Rains..."
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

Taking out "FAVOR THE BOLD". While a great episode, the others are much more 'Cardassian'.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part I"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 6: "Behind the Lines"
DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "When It Rains..."
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

I'll eliminate When it Rains... There are stronger episodes in the Final Chapter.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part I"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 6: "Behind the Lines"
DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

The Maquis, Part 1. I never really cared for that two parter, it's not bad but kinda forgettable.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 6: "Behind the Lines"
DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

DS9 Season 6: "Behind the Lines" is more about Odo high on changeling-sex betraying his friends.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "Til Death Do Us Part"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

Removing Til Death Do Us Part. The whole Winn/Dukat part is the weakest part of the final arc.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Maquis, Part II"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

Some REALLY strong episodes left. Only because it is not as 'Cardassian' as the rest, I will eliminate "THE MAQUIS, PART II". This game is getting harder and harder to take episodes out... probably will have to dartboard this at some point.

TNG Season 4: "The Wounded"
DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

I will kick the last non-DS9 item on this list. "The Wounded", like "Ensign Ro", is another one of those where I like what it gives us more than the actual episode itself. There's a couple things in "The Wounded" that bug me... Maxwell's ship seems weirdly unpopulated. Some of the messaging around O'Brien's PTSD/racism is overly simplistic. The Cardassians themselves aren't yet fully realized. And I don't love that "here's a major war we were just in that was never mentioned!" move.

DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 2: "The Wire"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

The Wire because I feel the least desire to rewatch it out of the remaining ones. It's a good episode but so are all the others.

DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

I'll remove The Changing Face of Evil. Great episode, sullied slightly but Winn/Dukat.

DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil"
DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

DS9 Season 2: "Necessary Evil": because the whole story is a bit formulaic.

DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "By Inferno's Light"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

By Inferno's Light, because blowing up bajor's sun to destroy the fleets was a weird plan, the fleets would have had minutes to warp away. That wouldn't have helped the station or bajor but acting like the fleets were in serious danger was strange.
Yep, that's the reason I'll eliminate the episode, I like all episode's left so that's the best I can come up with.

DS9 Season 3: "Improbable Cause"
DS9 Season 5: "In Purgatory's Shadow"
DS9 Season 5: "Call To Arms"
DS9 Season 7: "Tacking Into The Wind''

You know, that does bring up one point. Could blowing up the sun actually destroy the wormhole, too?

At the very least, how could the Dominion know it wouldn't affect it?

Real wormholes are not made of matter so they can't be affected by explosions. In order to open them (since in their native state they're less than one atom wide, IE very small) you need negative energy, which so far we are unable to produce.
