The latest on Marvel films

I read this elsewhere.
Glad to know Ant-Man is still a go. Apparently I'm in the minority that sees how the character could prove to be interesting if, IF, they don't play it straight for laughs. Remember Spider-Man and Batman were just characters to before they became icons. I hear people bash him cause of the 'ant' part as if 'spiders' and 'bats' predestined those characters to greatness.

I see Iron Fist as a possible 2012 announcement. That character has been among 5-6 other characters on the short list for a film along with Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Cloak&Dagger.

I think Ant-man could work if done well, too. I see his film being slightly quirky, in a Spider-Man vein, with alternating moments of extreme darkness and sort of reflexive nerdiness.

I'd honestly rather see a Black Panther or Cloak and Dagger film than an Iron Fist film.

I hope they stop doing new heroes. Stick with IRON MAN--THOR--CAPT AMERICA and AVENGERS. Thats it...

DC should stick with BATMAN, do Green Lantern. (The JLA movie doesn't look good to me, so they should scrap it.) I think Wonder Woman or an Aquaman movie (suprised Al Gore doesn't produce this himself) would be good. But thats it...

But if we must do more superheroes/cartoons? Then its time for THUNDAAR THE BARBARIAN (starring Will Ferrell as Thundaar!!)

Haven't they been tossing around the notion of a Runaways film for a while now? If they finally got their act together finalizing the script, that might be the announcement.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I'm really looking forward to Captain America more than THOR or even the Avengers film. Chris Pine would be great for either Cap or Bucky and I would love to see them do a Winter Soldier story in a sequel. I understand that the bulk of Captain America is going to be a period piece focusing on World War II but since it's suppossed to tie into the Avengers movie being released two or three months later I assume we're still going to get the Frozen in Ice and revival in modern day America story at the end? I hope that Tony Stark or his father is responsible for recovering Steve. I'm guessing though it could be SHEILD as well.

They have but I'm indifferent to Runaways and thats why I didn't mention it. I'd rather have Cloak & Dagger. If they did Runaways it would be the "newest" property they have in their stable brought to screen. Runaways being only about 10yrs old.

It was scrapped awhile back, actually.

And Greg, if you're still around - boy, I hope they do get you to novelize Blackest Night - from everything I've seen of Blackest Night so far, I think it's going to be amazing, and will certainly lend itself to being novelised far better than either Countdown or Final Crisis.

From your lips to DC's ears . . . :)

I think it's more likely that we will see a Daredevil or FF reboot before some of those other titles...

I also have every indication that 'Ant-Man' is going to be mostly on the comedy side, especially since its director is Edgar Wright (Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). I'm pretty sure he said in an interview about the movie that it was going to have some comedy involved.

Some comedy, yes, but it's not going to be mostly comedic. Here's Wright's description of his approach:

"It’s going to be less overtly comedic than anything else I’ve ever done. It’s more of a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element – in the same spirit of a lot of escapist fare like that. It’s certainly not a superhero spoof or pastiche and it certainly isn’t a sort of Honey I Shrunk the Kids endeavour at all."

They'd change it so that Thundaar was a "modern" human who wakes up in a post-apocalyptic world.

Lots of fart and sex jokes based around Ukla the Mok.

One thing would remain, Ariel would be brains of the group.

I think a Runaways movie would do really well. There's enough depth there that, if done right, it should appeal to both adults and children. Marvel should give it a shot.

And I'd like to see reboots of Daredevil and Fantastic Four, too. Too bad they'd probably recast all four of the FF, I thought Evans and Chiklis were great as Johnny and Ben.
