It goes without saying that Berman and Braga thought the Borg were the magical solution to every series since TNG [save DS9 but they didn't exec produce that series].
It was a solution because it did bring in viewers everytime the Borg showed up, so why wouldn't they keep doing it if it proved successful? As I said, it's only in hindsight that folks found them overused but while Voy. was on, people tuned in everytime the Borg were in an episode.
BTW, Rick Berman was an exec. producer on DS9.
My opinion remains the same, since you know.... it's my opinion. The majority of the time, my opinions are not influenced on other's opinions, they are influenced based on my own observations of the available information provided and my interpretation of that information.
I didn't create the thread to try and get other's to sway my opinion one way or another, I just wanted to know far off my view was to others, explain why I have the opinion I have, and give others the chance to do the same.
Compared to what?
While others in here fantasize about Janeway getting it one with Seven, I'm focusing on the production of an actual episode..... yet I'm the one getting carried away?
Voyagers ratings started with a 13 share with the first episode only to steadily fall to the 3 share level buy mid second season.

The producers thought the solution to the ratings problems were to put modern pop culture [Predator aliens err Hirogen] into the story lines and even bigger breasted women.
There are a few notable exceptions like with Scorpion that reached double digits and ironically IMHO that's because the story got original and exciting.
Agreed.... there were some pretty good episodes that stand out on their own and were for the most part, quite original.... this two-part episode however, doesn't par with the likes of Scorpion.
And yeah, lol... even my wife finds Seven's boobs a little too distracting.
Yeah I never had an issue with Voyager delving into the Borg more then TNG.... afterall, they were in the Delta Quadrant where they originated, so it made sense.... and when the Borg showed up, it was quite interesting.... last night we just finished watching "Drone" and that was pretty good too.... though I had a hard time trying to figure out why, if the advanced borg thought he was a threat to Voyager and wanted to die to stop the borg chasing them down all the time, why did he protect himself with borg shields in the nebula when he could have let himself die right then and there?
But that's a different topic I suppose.

Explaining how things work behind the scene isn't asking you to change any opinion you have or subjugating you. It's simply explaining why things are the way they are. Just like Adm. Hawthorne asked what your opinion was on the opinions you recieved from your fellow posters, not if you opinion would be swayed by them. Sorry but it just seems overly defensive for no reason especially considering the answer I gave you was one from a production point of view.

Hmm... I really meant "what are you thoughts on the general consensus". As in, "now that you see what the over-all opinion is, what do you think about it". Since, you know, you said you wanted to know what the over-all opinion of this episode is, and there it is.
Why you seem to think I want or desire to change your actual opinion of this episode seems strange to me.
