This looks almost as bad as the original K-9.

Nope not me, though wish it was! Doesn't look to bad... but the show seems a tad redundant and almost looks like it's designed to compete with Sarah Jane, when in my opinion it would have been better if they could have integrated it with Sarah Jane. I could even stand the new CGI dog in that show instead, as long as K9 wasn't a deus ex machina at the end of every episode.

And pardon me, but this is why I get upset Doctor Who itself looks like it is taking a turn for the McFactory Fantastic-Plastic Children's Market. There's a distinct difference between a show that children watch and enjoy, and a show engineered to be "fun for the whole family" and "especially aimed at children."

Well that's not true K9 only came out in the season finale, not counting Journey's End, other than that he was stuck trying to work out that black hole.

Wow, I know this is made for kids.... but that was just terrible. What age group are they aiming for with this? Under 5??

Of all the great spinoffs they could do from DW, it's pretty sad that this is what they decided to go with.

Do remember that this is not BBC-made/produced. "They" did not have a choice for anything other than K-9, because "they" only had access to Bob Baker and the rights to K-9 himself.

I kind of wish K-9 was still moping around in the TARDIS with the Doctor. He was a useful tool and a welcome bit of comic relief when necessary. They could easily have "matured" him up for the new show, effectively turning him into more of a historical/temporal database than the aforementioned deus ex machina.

Yeah it's set in the near future. In the first episode the 'team' discover K9. After he is damaged a 'regeneration' program is activated, hence his new look.
And the voice is just for the trailer. It'll be different for the series.

Personally though I'm not impressed.

Yeah, that show is made for kids 1-5. No way is that appealing to anyone older, except the dire and desperate Who fanatics and the fretful basement dwellers that will probably end up on Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator at some point...

i had to go back and reread that, at first I thought you said the Whofans would end up on To Catch a Predator.

quite why ITV has not done a UK version of that show yet I dont know.
