Saw it with the whole family today, we all loved it. The 6 year old was a little scared at times, but very often that's just an excuse to cuddle up to her mum!
I can imagine that the 3D version would look great though we saw the 2D. The special effects were superb. The animals never looked unrealistic.
The 1967 version is the first film I ever saw in a cinema (a re-release, I hasten to add) and I don't think that this movie matched its charm and humour. However, the performances and action were superb. Strongly recommended.
