The Interpretation of Dreams Thread™!

The poker game could represent the act of socializing itself. The different actors might be representations of your own personality (e.g., strong and brave, graceful, attractive), or they could be characteristics and traits you look for in friends. The act of cooking for your poker friends would mirror how you'd nourish those qualities in yourself or in others.

I'm glad to see this thread is still doing business today ever since it was started nearly a year ago. :) (Those were great times. :sigh:)

I haven't posted here for a while, but I can recall one dream I had last night. In this, I was playing squash with a colleague who seemed familiar - he was slightly shorter, fairly stocky, had very short hair, and wore glasses. I remember walking to the old squash courts I used to visit when I was younger, then walking up to play my opponent. As per usual, I was useless at the game and lost the game heavily, but it slowly dawned on me that the ambient lighting in the squash court was extremely dim, something that I hadn't noticed until my victorious opponent, on starting to pack his things away, turned up a dimmer switch on the wall, revealing the squash court at its real brightness.

It was at that moment that I noticed that my opponent's eyes appeared hollowed out, completely black, and he put on his normal glasses which were also pitch black, and I realised that this guy was only able to see things in detail when it was very dark. I shrugged and walked out of the court and towards the exit of the sports centre, only to see various people carrying old men and women on patient trolleys trying to walk past the other way.

If you played the game as a child, then it could just be a matter of your subconscious mind taking a trip down memory lane, but in a dream state. I sometimes have similar dreams about the house I grew up in and the people I knew when I was living in another country.

I always feel better after I have a dream with people I respect & adore. Part of it felt very trivial...but it felt important that these people were in the same place at once.

Miss Chicken, I am having a nice giggle over your dream. If Dean told me that I was dreaming, I would have ditched him and found a nice hotel room for myself and Sam. ;)

I think there must me something basically wrong with me. I never seem to go to bed with any man in my dreams.

^Miss Chicken, I don't seem to go to bed with any man in my dreams either! There's a lot of "I think he went this way" but not being able to find the guy.

I had some very interesting dreams last night. I've been struggling to come up with some ideas for a class project and finally just slept on it. I had this dream about being on a cruise ship that crashed into a pier cut out of the side of a mountain. I was freaking out, watching the ship racing into the rocks and knowing we would hit, but the ship sort of just bounced off the side of the mountain like it was rubber. Then I went to visit a castle on the island. When the staff asked what I was hoping to see on my trip, I told them I wanted to see shipwrecks because I was just kind of quirky like that.

It seemed totally strange at the time, but oddly enough when I thought about it, I was able to come up with some takeaways for my project.

I had a dream where somehow I was back in time as a teenager in school, but I had my full memories so I was knowingly back in time in my teenage body. I also had my iPod, which really messed with the heads of the walkman and portable CD player crowd. I can't fathom that having any meaning.

OK, I think I am going a bit batty because I had a second dream with Sam and Dean Winchester in it.

I was sitting at home watching TV when Judge Judy came on. The ligitants were called and they were Harvey vs Winchester and Winchester.

It seems that 'hunting' had gone mainstream because everyone knew that the supernatural existed. Mr Harvey had hired Sam and Dean to get rid of a poltergeist. Judge Judy asked Dean to explain exactly what a poltergeist was. Judge Judy seemed to be very taken with the fact that the Winchesters were 'hunters', she called it a very noble profession.

Sam showed her the contract and told her he had studied law before going into hunting. Judy said he had made quite a sacrifice to help his fellow man. Sam said that the contract only stated that they would get rid of a poltergeist and he and Dean had actually got rid of two. They explain exactly what they did to get rid of them. However after they had left a third poltergeist started to cause problems in Mrs Harvey's house.

Dean argued that they were under no obligation to rid the house of all supernatural beings only the ones that they were contracted to get rid of. If Mrs Harvey wanted the third poltergeist gone than she would have to pay them more and, as they had only been paid $250 to get rid of the first one, she should have been grateful and should just pay them another $250 to get rid of the third.

Judge Judy ruled in Dean and Sam's favour.

When she spoke at the end of the segment Mrs Harvey called the Winchesters 'scam artists' but Dean insisted if they were scamming they would have asked for a lot more and that they were doing community work and the money they charged was barely enough for them to live on.

Curious. Now in these dreams about movies or TV shows, does it ever occur to anyone that what they're seeing are fictional characters or celebrities? I mean, if I had a dream about Pat Sajak and Vanna White, I'd know I was watching Wheel of Fortune. When I had the weird dream about LOST, it felt like a combination of reality and TV in that I was a participant in it. Hard to explain, but I was actually with the cast of LOST, and at the same time I knew I wasn't entirely part of the story. I was just "there" with them.

I can't kill in my dreams. Even if it's a bad guy who must be stopped and he's standing right in front of me and I have a loaded gun pointed at him, he doesn't ever die.

I have had that happen too.

My dream I had earlier was scary!

It was very dark in this house I had never seen or been in before...however outside it was day but none of the light was getting in the house...the house had a few candle lit through out providing light. I really don't know why I was there in the house but I heard screaming and 2 girls...I'd say in there teens come running out from a hallway clothes torn and blood splattered all over them...they ask me to help and I really was at a loss...I told them to go and get help and they ran out the front door. I then slowly walk down that hallway and I am terrified...I look into a room and see a woman holding a deformed baby sitting in a chair...the woman was very creepy looking...I keep down the hallway and in another room are doctors operating on a giant praying mantis...which I do not like at all...I finally end up at a room where I hear more screaming...I push the door open and it is pitch black...slowly wavy images out away from me appear...at this point I am shaking...out of no where a bright blue flash happens and I can't really see I feel things crawling on my body and I start freaking out...I hear a voice say something...it was very demonic...something grabs my arm and I jump...now I am falling & screaming...I wake up this way nearly falling out my bed.

It is just after 3 in the morning here and I just woken from a dream. I thought I better get up and record the dream here in case I forget it.

I am at an amusement park. Maybe it is Disneyland/Disneyworld because I am on the Cup and Saucers ride. I am sitting on a cup by myself though I am aware of other people in other cups.

I am enjoying the ride. All of the sudden something goes wrong and the ride starts to accelerate. I am aware that the people in other cups are screaming but I am just watching it all with interest.

The ride keeps getting faster. The people in the crowd starts to blur and as I get faster they become just colours. Then we go faster until there is a solid colour. I am convinced that when we go fast enough the colours will turn white. I think 'is there some formula that will tell us how fast we have to go before the colours turn white?". I continue to watch with interest. The solid colours change from pink to green to yellow and I decide that that is because the crowd is changing and when it changes enough the solid colour changes because of the clothes of the people wearing is now different (hope that makes sense).

I try to determine how long we have been spinning. I have a feeling it has been for hours and I wonder why haven't they evacuated the area.

Eventually the colours take on a reddish hue. we start to slow down and I start to make out firemen wearing red and firetrucks that are red.

We stop and all get off. The other people are stumbling because they are dizzy but I walk without a problem. I hear a lot of people say that they are going to sue because they are so traumatised but I just go over to the ticket seller and thank her for the thrilling ride.

EDIT TO ADD: I was slightly disappointed that the colours never did turn to white.

I hate nightmares like that. Usually, I wake up screaming and my heart racing. What I do is take a few sips of bottled water next to my bed. Then I "flip" my pillows over so that the bad dreams stay underneath, and I sleep on the "good side" of the pillow.

Dreams like this worry me coz they could turn out to be true!

I went to bed early and awoke just now (having had a good sleep) thinking that Felipe Massa was dead. I'm not sure how I came to that conclusion.

I also had another dream where I was taking part in a Deus Ex-style game, which was coming to a conclusion. I had then realised that I have had this dream before, or at least I had visited the same locations before and encountered the same plotlines in a previous dream (but played out differently). (No, it wasn't the same dreams I had described earlier in this thread.)

I have never really known which way around it has been regarding recurrent dreams of things I only vaguely remembered on previous nights. Is it because I had dreamed that dream before but forgotten it when I woke up, so that the memories of that dream resurface when I dream something similar several nights later? Do I actually experience the original dream earlier on in the night, making me think that it had happened in past nights but in fact all happened on the same night? Or in my dreaming of the dream this night, do I create false memories of dreams past?

I am at a basketball game looks like my old high school gym, I walk down the bleachers with a tray of tacos & a beer...I sit down and start enjoying my food, the beer people sitting next to me are telling me about the game...I look out and people from my life and from tv shows are playing...they are all wearing red & white basketball jerseys and I am confused about who is on what team etc...something happens and David Duchovny fouls my youth paster also pokes him in the eye...moments go by and the buzzer sounds I get up and walk own to see if he is ok...he starts telling me stuff...I don't recall what it was really...then a girl( Kirsten Storms From General Hospital ) grabs me by the arm and takes me through some doors to a reception...she kisses me and we are making out...then she hears a guys voice and stops...puts a cosmopolitan(the drink) in my hand and says not to say anything...a guy walks up in a tux and asked her if she was ready...by the way she was wearing a white-blues dress...like spring dress...not like a bride would wear...she said to him "I'll be there in a minute hun" he walks away...she kisses me again and says after they get married she was going to find me??? She walks away I am drinking my cosmo and I woke up.

Nothing too strange.

^ I like your dreams and the beautiful women. ;) I wish my dreams were more like yours.

Last night, I seemed to have another work-related dream. I dreamt that I woke up late on a Monday around noon (as if it were a weekend), did some errands in the afternoon, or went to an appointment. I did not call my boss or did not schedule a day off ahead of time, by the way, and I wasn't sure whether to use Sick Leave or Vacation Leave. On Tuesday I worked the whole day but totally disregarded the previous day. On Wednesday I woke up late again and ended up missing another workday. Now at this point, I was anxious about calling my boss because I wasn't sure what to tell him. Should I just pretend I was sick and use my Sick Leave? What about the Monday that I had missed?

At some point, I was planning on leaving early for the day, and I had to go to this counter station (similar to a bank) and tell the rep (an African-American lady) that I was planning to use my Sick Leave for the day. She said no, indicating that I didn't provide advance notice. I found this all very odd because in reality all I have to do is fill out a "leave slip" and give it to my boss, indicating whether I'm going to use my Vacation or Sick Leave, how many hours, what date, and he simply approves it.

Also, in the dream, one of my co-workers warned me about my boss, that he was up to something. Yeah, like in reality, what could he possibly do to me?

I think my dreams reflect anxiety about missing work. Don't get me wrong. I don't exactly "love" my job. And I don't hate it, either. I have had some attendance problems due to health-related issues in the past, but this is no longer the case and I have gotten better. I still don't like my boss, though.

^ I like your dreams and the beautiful women. ;) I wish my dreams were more like yours.

I rarely dream about ugly women. I watch GH and I like that actress so...go figure.

I hate work related dreams...they are usually nightmarish and freak me out...sometimes they are just plain weird.

Ahhh, work anxiety dreams. Sometimes you just wish the subconscious mind would just get a clue!

I had a dream last night that I got called in at the last minute to work at a grocery store because they needed someone to count registers at close. The store is already closed when I get there, with employees milling around inside because they can't leave until I count and verify all the money. But as I get out of my car, there's a guy outside who wants to go in and shop. I don't have enough authority to let him in, and he won't take my advice and head for the 24 hour store down the street. So I make him a deal: he gives me his shopping list, and I'll pick up all of his groceries. He just has to pay me for the total plus $20 as my fee. He gets in his car and leaves rather than pay.

When I finally get into the store, though, they've closed up the register and just want me to sign something, so I'm out of there in minutes. And then I get talked into going to a movie with this older gentleman. We have to wait in a really long line to get into the movie, and it gives me enough time to have second thoughts about the deal. I eventually leave him behind in line with the excuse that I have to go back to work.

^
I had a dream I was working at a grocery store too.

All it was really I walk in to my old job to buy stuff and they put me to work...I am bagging groceries...but have alot of trouble. People are yelling at me and then I get fired???

I walk outside and go down to a bar and start having all these weird color drinks...remember wanting tequila when I woke up.

I've had some work-related dreams lately too. I just started a new job, and I'm a little bit anxious about the possibility of screwing up horribly somehow, so I think that's seeped into my subconscious. I've actually woken up a few times believing I'm at work, then thinking, "Crap, I'm not supposed to be sleeping! I'm gonna get fired!"

As for other types of dreams... You know, I don't think I've ever actually had a dream in which I was having sex with someone. I presume that's a fairly common sort of dream, but I don't recall any like that. There have been a few that I think were headed in that direction, but of course, I always seem to wake up before it really goes anywhere.

In fact, I had a dream like that recently: I was performing a film scene with a friend of mine (who is not an actor), and we had to be naked for it. She hugged me, and there was some... friction. It was clearly headed somewhere sexy, but yep, I woke up. It's weird, though: I haven't seen her in months, and honestly, I've never really thought of her in a sexual way. I wonder if there are some sort of hidden meanings in there.
