The Inhumans Marvel/IMAX

They released a new trailer, Welcoming the Royal Family. It's basically just music with the characters' names and then a couple second shot of them, with a montage that does contain a bit of new footage at the end.

I don't know why they keep showing that shot of Gorgon with normal feet. That seems like a pretty obvious error at this point.

Exactly. He has them (that isn't the only time we've seen it), so the shot where he has regular feet feels like a likely error.

Hopefully, they're not going have, like, a holographic projector that can give him normal feet when he's in disguise. Ah! That trusty nugget of ways to cut corners.

First reactions after last nights premiere were... positive.

Really?

"Much more intriguing than one may have originally thought. I was a little surprised by how interested I was, even if it’s predictable.
As a show, it works. It’s cheesy, but in a way that works for Marvel shows. It is easily worth a season of your time if you do S.H.I.E.L.D.
I had a good time. I feel like it was worth me driving two hours, so take that into your considerations. I think it’s gonna be fun.
Karnak is lost and confused for the first time in his life. Gorgon is with a tribe of surfers who think he’s from the moon."

Got a chance to see the first two episodes of @theinhumans in Imax tonight. Really enjoyed it. I can't spoil anything, but it's fun.

I'm going to just come out and say it: I loved Inhumans. Rheon & Mount are so damn good. Cannot wit to see more of Crystal & Lockjaw.

Yay!:)

Maybe this won't be the train-wreck people are expecting after all?:techman:

I wouldn't put money on it being good. Everything from Batman v Superman to Fant4stic has had good early reviews, at least from small groups. I mean, on a personal level the show has no chance of being good, but even from an audience who doesn't care about the source material I doubt it will be reviewed better then, say, Iron Fist. Some people liked that show to, but it still wasn't a good show by any definition.

I don't remember ANY good reviews for Fant4stic, and the only good words about BvS came from the studio.

And all of us here know that your are the ultimate authority in such things. That you can be counted on to form an unbiased opinion free of preconceived notions or hyperbole. Obviously, these people who actually saw it either don't know what they are talking about or have nothing but contempt for the source material.

Obviously.

Well, these initial reactions are a good sign.
I was surprised to see Medusa with the shaved head in the new trailer, but it is a good way to get around having to constantly animate her hair. It could also make from a story perspective if it's punishment for not cooperating with Maximus.

Because seeing something automatically makes someone's opinion THE correct opinion of something and no shitty movie or TV show has ever gotten some good reviews, so anything that gets even a few positive reviews is automatically good and everyone must agree with that.

Obviously.

Yeah, and by that logic removing one of The Flash's legs would be a great way to save money on super speed effects, but only a complete jackass would do that. Just like how they're making several of the weirder looking inhumans completely human looking because they are so cheap they make 80s and 90s Superhero projects look like The Avengers

It's also a direct reference to a comic book story (in which the haircut obviously has no budget motivation).

A mediocre story (as much as I like the Inhumans the amount of twisting that some writers did to justify the Inhumans not just locking Maximus in a pit with a gag over his mouth at minimum has compromised a lot of Inhumans stories with huge plot holes) and even then that was after decades of Medusa using her hair in interesting ways and, like you said, not some cheap BS to save budget.

Not the same at all. Medusa's hair is moving constantly, and requires CGI every time it does, The Flash only requires CGI when he's running. If the Flash was always moving at super speeds, I'm pretty sure the show probably would have had to find a way to limit how often he was moving at super speeds.

I still don't think that had to be the case. People have forgotten how versatile non-CGI effects can be. For something like moving hair, there are a number of very basic, inexpensive puppeteering techniques that could've been used in tandem with CGI for the more elaborate stuff. Heck, in some shots they could've just blown puffs of air at her hair from off-camera to give its "resting" state an illusion of life. There are so many different, simple tricks they could've used in combination. People who created FX in the old days understood that you had to use a mix of different methods. Too many of today's FX artists know nothing but CGI and thus lack the versatility and innovation of their forebears. It's sad how much has been forgotten in just 20-odd years.

I won't bother explaining this to you a second time, so I'll just say that you're objectively wrong and evidently have no real grasp on the utter impracticality of what you're suggesting. Feel free to disagree of course, but it won't magically make it even remotely true.
